About The Position

The William George Agency for Children's Services is seeking a Dishwasher/Food Service Worker to maintain food service area sanitation standards, supervise and teach good work habits to residents, and provide a positive role model for residents. This role is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the food service area, assisting with meal preparation and serving, and performing various cleaning duties in accordance with health and safety guidelines. The position also involves supervising residents assigned to the food service area, evaluating their performance, and reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel. The Dishwasher/Food Service Worker must be able to accomplish all required work promptly, even in the absence of resident workers, and adhere to all agency policies and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (copy required upon initial hire date)
  • Yearly Physical (required within one month of initial hire date)
  • Valid NYS Drivers License (copy required upon initial hire date)
  • Ability to work with a diverse population presenting a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, developmental and sexual identities. Must have the ability and willingness to establish and foster healthy and supportive relationships that acknowledge individual identities and encourage personal growth.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks: NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR), Multi-State Sex Offender Registry (SOR), NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) fingerprinting, NYS Justice Center Staff Exclusion List (SEL), NYS OMIG Medicaid Exclusion List, Out-of-state child abuse register inquiry of any state in which the person resided within the last five years (if applicable), NYS License Event Notification Service (LENS), Office of Inspector General (OIG).
  • Must successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain food service area sanitation standards in accordance with Federal, State and County guidelines.
  • Supervise and teach good work habits to residents assigned to work in your area, as well as fill out evaluations on them as their supervisor.
  • Provide a positive role model for residents in the care of The William George Agency.
  • Supervise and know the whereabouts of residents assigned to your area of responsibility and overtime workers and report out of program residents to the Support Team.
  • Evaluate resident's performance using the Daily Level System Evaluation Sheets in accordance with published guidelines and individual goals. Give daily sheets to the Dining Room Attendant for consolidation.
  • Prepare written Incident Reports on critical incidents and give them to the Director of Food Services.
  • In the absence of resident workers, be able to accomplish all required work promptly.
  • Supervise and assist resident workers in washing and putting away silver, dishes and pots and pans.
  • Supervise and assist resident workers in setting up the dining room for dinner, when necessary.
  • Supervise and assist resident workers in following nightly closing check list as published by the Director of Food Services.
  • Supervise and assist resident workers in learning to dress properly for work.
  • Supervise and assist resident workers in learning to follow instructions and accept supervision.
  • Supervise and assist resident workers in following safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Supervise and assist resident workers in learning how to work with co-workers.
  • Help Afternoon Cook in preparation and serving of dinner meal, if requested.
  • Receive and help put away stock when necessary.
  • Perform cleaning duties in accordance with Federal, State, and County Health Department guidelines and follow cleaning schedule as determined by the Director of Food Services.
  • Help close building using Closing Checklist determined by the Director of Food Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services.
  • Responsible for adhering to and performing all duties in accordance with every safety standard, practice, and policy of The William George Agency. This includes, but is not limited to, review of The William George Agency's Safety Policy and attending all required safety related training.
  • Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, and philosophy of The William George Agency and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
