About The Position

The Steward supports the outlet chefs and is responsible for manning and leading the overall cleanliness of the kitchen. This position assists in guiding other stewarding employees on quality standards as well as maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and operation of kitchen equipment in accordance with state and local health and food safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate in English, both in written and oral form.
  • Ability to work consistently with industrial strength chemicals, and within a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced and stressful environment with prolonged walking/standing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time, push/pull up to 400 lbs. at a time; and handle heavy machinery such as pallet jacks, tuggers, etc.
  • Required to use Personal Protection Equipment when applicable.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any licensing or active work cards required, at present or in the future, for this position at all times.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Highschool diploma or G.E.D required.
  • Requires a Food Handler Safety Training card.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in kitchen stewarding or in another physically demanding profession.
  • Previous experience as a stove cleaner in a high-volume establishment.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning all cooking devices such as stoves, grills, ovens, broilers, burner tops, steamer ovens, kettle-braisers, hood panels, deep fryers, dishwasher machines, stainless steel counters, drains, etc.
  • Washing, cleaning, and polishing equipment to ensure it is ready for use.
  • Sorting and cleaning dishes, silverware, glasses, utensils, and assorted items as well as washing pots and pans.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of work area and equipment in accordance with the Health Department standards, and any other duties as assigned by Department Management.
  • Responsible for bio-hazard cleanup.
  • Being prompt, present, and prepared for all scheduled shifts and adhere to all company/departmental standards.
  • Performing all duties associated with Porter and Kitchen Worker positions.
