About The Position

The Dishwasher plays an important role in supporting culinary excellence by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment that enables exceptional dining and event experiences. The Dishwasher at The Abbey Inn & Spa is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment, cookware, utensils, and food service items used in restaurant and banquet operations. This role supports the culinary team by ensuring all work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with food safety standards. The Dishwasher works collaboratively with kitchen staff to promote efficient operations and deliver exceptional service experiences for guests.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous dishwashing, stewarding, or food service experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and cleaning procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using approved procedures.
  • Operate dishwashing machines safely and efficiently.
  • Properly sort, stack, and store cleaned items in designated storage areas.
  • Monitor and maintain dishwashing equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Replenish cleaning chemicals and supplies as needed.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen work areas, floors, walls, drains, and storage spaces.
  • Remove trash, recycling, and food waste regularly and dispose of materials according to established procedures.
  • Assist with cleaning refrigerators, freezers, shelving, and food preparation areas.
  • Support kitchen opening and closing cleaning duties.
  • Ensure workstation organization and cleanliness throughout each shift.
  • Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks as directed.
  • Receive and properly store deliveries when needed.
  • Help transport supplies, equipment, and products throughout the kitchen and banquet areas.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when replenishment is needed.
  • Support culinary and banquet operations during peak periods and special events.
  • Work closely with chefs, cooks, stewards, and service staff to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
  • Respond promptly to operational needs and requests from kitchen leadership.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and ongoing development opportunities.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude while contributing to a collaborative work environment.
  • Follow all company policies, food safety regulations, and sanitation standards.
  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to safety guidelines.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance issues, and safety hazards promptly.
  • Comply with all local, state and company health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for guests and team members.
