About The Position

The Dishwasher/Utility position is based at the Legacy Resort Hotel and Spa in San Diego, California. The role is responsible for washing kitchen utensils, including pots and pans, and cleaning kitchen floors, walls, equipment, and walk-in coolers. It also handles food and beverage deliveries, stores and restocks food according to first-in/first-out guidelines, and assists with basic food preparation when other work is complete. The employee must maintain confidentiality and work the assigned schedule. The position may involve assisting in other hotel areas during a scheduled shift, as the hotel operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Additional duties may be assigned, and responsibilities may change.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to two full years of prior experience in a related position.
• California Food Handlers Certificate.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work the assigned schedule.
• Ability to communicate in English.
• Ability to work cohesively with coworkers as part of a team.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to quality and exceptional customer service.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a resort hotel.
• First Aid, CPR, and defibrillator certifications.
• Ability to speak additional languages.

Responsibilities

• Wash pots and pans according to guidelines and maintain a clean work environment in the pot-washer area.
• Clean kitchen areas, floors, walls, equipment, and walk-in coolers.
• Handle food and beverage deliveries and restock or store food products according to first-in/first-out guidelines.
• Assist with basic food preparation when other work is complete.
• Coordinate work priorities with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Supervisor and provide assistance as needed.
• Perform other duties as requested by management and attend required meetings.
• Follow hotel safety and security procedures to help maintain a safe and secure environment for employees and guests.
• Report unusual occurrences or requests to the Restaurant Manager.
• Assist in areas of the hotel outside the usual work area when asked.
