About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of routine tasks within the Dietary Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to assure a successful dietary program is always maintained. This is a full-time position with working hours from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, requiring work every other weekend. The pay range is $15.25 - $17.25 per hour, with bi-weekly pay.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain an approved Food Handlers Course Certificate.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English in an understandable manner and be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Must possess leadership ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with staff.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Must create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
  • Must be able to lift loads in excess of 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform a variety of physical requirements including balancing, crouching, fingering, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and twisting.
  • Job requires repetitive movements and standing for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Assure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Perform dishwashing/cleaning procedures.
  • Carry soiled utensils to wash area.
  • Return clean utensils to proper storage areas.
  • Wash and clean utensils as directed.
  • Assist in serving meals on the nursing units and dining rooms as needed.
  • Assist nursing units with mealtimes when needing extra food, drinks, dinnerware, condiments, etc.
  • Assist in daily cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Clean work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
  • Keep work area clean, dry, and free of hazardous equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Sweep and mop floors as directed.
  • Carry out garbage to designated areas.
  • Receive, put away, and distribute incoming stock deliveries on a bi-weekly basis (Stockman only).
  • Attend and participate in mandatory in-services and training programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information at all times.
  • Respect the residents’ property and personal rights.
  • Treat residents with courtesy, respect and dignity at all times.
  • Comply with all applicable CMS regulations, state licensure requirements, and facility policies to ensure resident safety, dignity, and quality of care.
