About The Position

We are looking for a Dishwasher/Prep Cook to join our kitchen staff at Cellar Hand, a Mediterranean-inspired culinary concept located in the heart of San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood. This dual-role position is essential to maintaining the cleanliness, efficiency, and quality of our kitchen operations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Work experience as a Dishwasher or Prep Cook preferred
  • Hands-on experience with industrial washing machines and basic kitchen equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, some evenings, and adapt to a flexible schedule
  • Ability to walk, sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Full-time employment

Responsibilities

  • Collecting used kitchenware from dining and kitchen areas
  • Loading and unloading dishwashing machines
  • Washing specific items by hand as needed
  • Storing clean dishes, glasses, and equipment appropriately
  • Ensuring there are always enough clean dishes, glasses, and utensils, especially during peak hours
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen
  • Monitoring inventory levels of cleaning supplies
  • Checking washing machines’ operation and promptly reporting any technical/performance issues
  • Preparing ingredients for dishes, including washing, chopping, and measuring
  • Assisting chefs with basic cooking tasks such as grilling, sautéing, and assembling dishes
  • Ensuring food preparation areas are clean and organized
  • Properly labeling and storing ingredients and prepared items
  • Monitoring inventory levels and notifying the Chef or Kitchen Manager when supplies are low
  • Following food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times
  • Supporting the kitchen team during busy service hours
