About The Position

The Dishwasher/Kitchen Porter is responsible for washing dishes and pans, polishing glasses, taking out trash, keeping the kitchen clean, and assisting with basic food preparation as instructed by the chef. This role requires adherence to all standards of food quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation, as well as compliance with all food and general safety standards, policies, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen employees, and employees from other departments.
  • Safe Food Handling Certification (we can provide this course)
  • Ability to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold.
  • Ability to bend, stand, and stoop for long periods of time, and working long hours in hot, busy conditions
  • Ability to work with water, dishwashing machinery, and cleaning products and tools on a regular basis.
  • Ability to lift and move objects of up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Ability to negotiate uneven, outdoor surfaces
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including hot and cold weather

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a dishwasher and/or prep cook

Responsibilities

  • Wash dishes and kitchen utensils and pans, as needed.
  • Sweep, mop, and cleans surfaces in the kitchen, as needed.
  • Take out trash and replace trash can liners in kitchen, as needed.
  • Learn about and participate in basic food preparation, as instructed by the chef.
  • Adhere to all standards of food quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation.
  • Comply with all food and general safety standards, policies, and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
