Dish Washer
About The Position
Performs a variety of cleaning duties within Dietary Services, including garnishing patient trays, loading and unloading patient trays from tray trucks, stripping patient trays, and stocking the condiment bar. The role performs cleaning, dishwashing, stocking, food-service-area upkeep, and tray-delivery tasks across the dishroom, pot area, coffee shop, cafeteria, kitchen, and trayline areas. The employee also performs other related cleaning functions within Food & Nutrition Services using prescribed methods and participates in ongoing quality improvement within the designated area.
Requirements
- High school degree preferred.
- Capable of following oral and written instructions.
- Manual dexterity required.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- One to three months to become proficient in all basic duties.
- All staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
- Strip patient trays and scrape dishes.
- Operate and load dish machines; unload and stock dishes.
- Store dishes, cups, glasses, trays, and utensils on lowerators and sort silverware.
- Clean tables, sweep and mop floors, and clean the truck room.
- Receive or obtain pots; operate, load, and unload the pot machine; manually wash pots and utensils; and store them on racks.
- Operate and load POWER SOAK, fill WASH PLUS sanitize sinks, and wash kettles as needed.
- Break down the trayline steamtable twice daily and break down POWER SOAK and sinks before the shift ends.
- Clean and stock the Coffee Shop; bring trash to the main dishroom, sweep the floor before leaving, and bring pots to the main pot area.
- Replenish the cafeteria condiment area, including items such as mustard, ketchup, sugar, straws, napkins, and utensils.
- Clean and stock the vending area and clean its microwave.
- Sweep and mop the kitchen floor twice daily and continually remove trash from the cafeteria and kitchen.
- Garnish patient trays, load trays onto tray trucks, deliver them to nursing units, pick up tray trucks from nursing units, and deliver them to the dishroom.
- Wash microwaves.
- Perform related cleaning functions, including cleaning ovens; washing large production equipment, floors, walls, barrels, utility carts, and ladder carts; polishing stainless steel; washing hand sinks; cleaning grill hoods and sinks; cleaning pot areas and stainless steel and tubing outside steamers; and cleaning up after functions.
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement within the designated area of Food & Nutrition Services.
