About The Position

The Disaster Relief Director will direct all Tennessee Baptist disaster relief efforts. This includes designing responses, implementing training, coordinating disaster-related responses, liaising with disaster-related groups, and maintaining the properties and equipment of the Mission Mobilization Center (MMC) compound. The role requires a Christ-like servant spirit, alignment with TBMB's mission, priorities, strategies, and goals, and the ability to support the Administrative/Missions Group and other organizational groups. The position involves driving to various responsibilities and engagements throughout Tennessee.

Requirements

• Must have good working knowledge of Disaster Relief Operations
• Organizational skills with a servant attitude
• Knowledge, physical and mechanical skills to aid in overseeing and maintaining properties and equipment
• Willingness to train others to lead and then release them to lead
• Good understanding of Baptist polity
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Nice To Haves

• Four-year college degree
• Three to seven years in related field

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive training scheme covering disaster relief administration, response, communications, and records management to prepare teams for disaster response. Conduct training for trainers to multiply training opportunities and prepare volunteer teams for disaster situations.
• Oversee the implementation of deployment strategies, assign incident commanders and other members of the incident command system, and provide necessary communication during response implementation.
• Develop annual strategic plans for funding Disaster Relief Ministry and maintain constant evaluation of plan implementation oversight.
• Build and maintain relationships with leadership of Tennessee county Emergency Management Agencies (EMAs), Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Southern Baptist Send Relief, The Salvation Army (TSA), Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), Campers on Mission, and Baptist Builders.
• Participate in the promotion and fundraising of TBMB Disaster Relief Ministry by building relationships with donors and speaking in churches and other groups to share the ministry of disaster relief.
• Coordinate activities of TN Baptist Disaster Relief with partner Disaster Relief Ministries.
• Maintain systems to track and maintain all equipment of Disaster Relief and the MMC.
• Maintain the properties of the MMC and the two missionary residences, the MMC House and Mary’s House.
• Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
