About The Position

The Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join our team as a Disaster Recovery Architect. This position will proactively solve unique and complex systems problems and provide expert-level support through system analysis and design, operations and maintenance, security, systems management, technical support, and resource management. The Disaster Recovery Architect is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the restoration of vital systems and data after a natural or human-made disaster. This role coordinates with Division leaders, teams of engineers, technicians, and other IT professionals to ensure the organization can quickly recover from any type of disruption. This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the department's needs and continual meetings of expected performance measures. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 10 or more years of experience in systems engineering, systems architecture, and systems design (or equivalent experience).
  • Applicants for this position will be required to apply for and show proof of receipt of a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card.
  • This position may require driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Responsibilities

  • Work with business subject matter experts to develop and document business DR requirements, business risks, solution testing, and IT support requirements.
  • Establish and maintain regular DR communications, along with command and control plans.
  • Review and document technology requirements for remote access and remote support activities.
  • Champion statewide DR collaboration in order to drive cost efficiencies.
  • Assist business units with the coordination of agency business impact assessments, DR exercises and managing of recovery events.
  • Assist with post-mortem discussions to resolve DR testing issues.
  • Assist DES Divisions with interpreting rules and regulations applicable to the agency pertaining to DR.
  • Continued follow-up of agencies IT business needs for DR.
  • Maintain accurate master copies of DR procedures.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings of State agencies' DR teams to assist with documenting the strategic DR goals to meet State of Arizona's business continuity and recovery requirements, along with capabilities for remote support.
  • Ensure continuous evaluation of the DR program to identify opportunities for strategic improvement or mitigation of business interruption and other risks.
  • Periodic cost assessments of DR options available to business, including mass communications and preparedness solutions.
  • Participates in projects by evaluating infrastructure and applications as they relate to DR to reduce security risks and enhance the Agency's overall security posture.
