About The Position

Manages backup operations, disaster recovery planning, and restore testing for all covered systems. This role requires ensuring backups occur at least every 8 hours, defining Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), conducting annual restore testing, and defining retention periods. The specialist will also manage backup schedules and retention policies, monitor backup success/failure, ensure near-real-time incremental backups where possible, and support disaster recovery planning and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in backup administration, disaster recovery, or business continuity
• Experience with Veeam, Azure, and on‑premises backup systems
• Experience defining RTO/RPO, retention policies, and performing restore testing
• Must pass City of Canton background check
• Must comply with City cybersecurity, backup, and disaster recovery policies
• Must maintain confidentiality of City data and systems

Nice To Haves

• Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)
• Azure Administrator (AZ‑104)
• CompTIA Server+ or Cloud+
• Experience supporting municipal or enterprise environments
