About The Position

The Absence Management Consultation Services Center of Excellence is part of the Group Benefits Disability organization and is focused on supporting the health, productivity, and positive financial outcomes of clients and their employees. As an AMCS Disability Specialist, you will support the administration of strategic, best-in-class disability case management in partnership with the Associate Manager. This role contributes to our mission by helping reduce the duration of employee work absences while supporting the training and development of Case Analysts and Case Managers. In this opportunity, you will help coach teams, solve complex claim issues, build strong partnerships, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a health sciences field.
  • 2-3 years’ experience managing health recovery absences.
  • Knowledge of absence management philosophy and processes.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, treatment and/or physical/mental functional ability assessment.
  • Superior communication skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to solve problems.
  • Willingness to listen, think differently, and learn from all levels of staff while working toward the best solution for the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of work experience in a health-related field would be an asset.
  • Experience in technical training and development of staff.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, technical training, and/or developing people.
  • Passion for sharing knowledge in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor a team of AMCS Case Analysts and Case Managers.
  • Inspire new staff to achieve their potential through candid feedback.
  • Support the administration of strategic, best-in-class disability case management.
  • Creatively solve complex claim issues.
  • Establish and cultivate internal and external partnerships.
  • Contribute to a high level of quality by conducting regular audit reviews.
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture.
  • Participate in and/or lead various agile initiatives.
  • Support the training and development needs of Case Analysts and Case Managers within the AMCS Center of Excellence.
