About The Position

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is seeking a Part-Time Disability Services Case Manager/Support Specialist to serve as a primary access point and ongoing support professional for students with disabilities. This position involves individualized case management, accommodation determination, student coaching, and coordination of accommodations, assistive technology, testing, and accessible materials. The role ensures equitable access to college programs, services, and learning environments in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and institutional policy. The specialist will partner with faculty and staff to implement accommodations, promote inclusive practices, and support student persistence, retention, and academic success.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Human Services or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience working with individuals with disabilities or supporting access, accommodations, or case management.
  • Ability to learn and use student information systems, scheduling software, assistive technology platforms, and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas)
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Districts standard insurance policy terms.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intakes and assess student needs to determine accommodations for students with disabilities by reviewing documentation and interviewing students to evaluate their individual needs.
  • Authorize appropriate academic accommodations and continually assess the student's stage of development (academic, career, and personal).
  • Support student success by helping them establish realistic and achievable academic and career goals.
  • Provide guidance on available campus and community resources, assistive technology, self-advocacy strategies, recommended course loads, and curriculum planning to ensure timely progress toward graduation.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external professionals as needed, in accordance with confidentiality and proper consent protocols.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive case management plans tailored to individual student needs.
  • Regularly review and assess students’ academic and career goals to ensure alignment with their abilities, interests, and available resources, and design individualized service strategies to support their success.
  • Foster and maintain strong, supportive relationships with students, while upholding and enforcing institutional policies, procedures, and compliance standards to promote student accountability and institutional integrity.
  • Serve as point of contact for students seeking disability accommodations, reviewing documentation and helping determine appropriate supports in compliance with ADA, Section 504, and institutional policy.
  • Use coaching framework to assess student and customer needs, offer clear communication of resources and processes, and engage in dialogue to ensure understanding of the next steps or referrals to other departments.
  • Coordinate Disability Services accommodations, including test-taking, notetaking, assistive technology, accessible classroom furniture, and alternative textbook formats.
  • Communicate with instructors to inform them of student accommodations, gather test details, and ensure proper implementation of supports.
  • Train students on assistive technologies and adaptive equipment, and provide follow-up support, including scheduling appointments and ongoing guidance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve student and faculty issues related to accommodations, assistive technology, and testing processes.
  • Maintain professional student records in accordance with ethical and legal standards, accommodations standards, required reporting, and College policy.
  • Utilize a web-based software platform to manage appointment scheduling, implement accommodation plans, document student case notes, generate reports, and coordinate test room bookings.
  • Promote access for students with disabilities to the college community.
  • Work to eliminate barriers to access including stereotyping and discrimination toward students with disabilities as well as enhancing sensitivity and awareness.
