About The Position

The Disability Coordinator plans, organizes, and implements the Center Disability Student program. This role is responsible for the Case Management of all Cognitive disabilities from: folder review; collection of all needed documents; IDT Team; review of TABE testing; develops academic and career technical training plans to support students’ goals and success. The Disability Coordinator trains all staff on learning support/disabilities and ensures students are receiving appropriate accommodations in education, testing and training settings. They participate in the initial screening of disabled students, assess students’ needs and ability to benefit from the Job Corps Program and coordinate living quarters prior to student’s arrival. They perform vocational assessments of all students needing learning support, develop contacts with state and community agencies representing the disabled and act as liaison between these agencies and the Center. This role works closely with the Vocational Rehabilitation Agency to ensure that applicants have been formally assessed by the agency and ensures that eligible students are signed up with Voc Rehab and SSI within their first month in the Program. They also develop referrals to and receive reports from Health Services with respect to speech therapy, psychological evaluations and special health problems and provide appropriate follow-up information. Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program in the country and has been operating for more than 60 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Candidates applying for this position should be aware that, due to the nature of the duties involved, this role is classified as safety-sensitive and requires pre-employment drug/alcohol testing consistent with state law and organizational policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Two to three years related work experience preferred.
  • State teaching certification or state licensure in Special Education preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.

Responsibilities
