About The Position

Lifemark Health Group (LHG) is seeking a Disability Case Manager to manage a caseload of disability claims for a large unionized organization. This remote position, based in Nova Scotia, requires travel to client sites in the Truro to Antigonish region. The Case Manager will collaborate with employers, union representatives, and physicians to obtain and review medical information, facilitate treatment, and develop return-to-work solutions. The role involves building relationships with stakeholders and providing expert advice. A home office space and access to a vehicle are required.

Requirements

  • Experience working with a carrier or other third-party provider actively adjudicating disability claims
  • Experience with non-occupational disability claims
  • Experience adjudicating mental health and physical disability claims
  • Excellent documentation and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with clients
  • Must be detail oriented and organized with and an analytical thinker
  • Demonstrated excellence in the decision-making process especially when under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Home office space is required
  • Must have access to a vehicle and valid driver’s licence

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in a health-related field as a Kinesiologist, Occupational Therapist, Massage Therapist or related considered an asset
  • NIDMAR or other related professional designations would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Case manage disability claims
  • Plan and implement sound case management strategies with a focus on treatment and recovery and a goal to potential return to work
  • Review accommodation requests and implement return to work plans
  • Review accommodation requests for stay at work efforts
  • Responsible for communication claim decisions both verbally and in written correspondence to all stakeholders involved
