About The Position

Empire Justice Center is seeking a Disability Advocacy Program (DAP) Program Coordinator for its Rochester Telesca Center or Albany office. This role is crucial in supporting marginalized low-income individuals and families across New York by providing statewide legal support and administrative services to DAP-funded providers. The organization focuses on direct legal representation, high-impact litigation, legislative advocacy, and training advocates. The DAP Program Coordinator will manage data collection and reporting systems, coordinate meetings and training sessions, maintain the DAP portal and website, and support the production of a quarterly newsletter. This position offers a true work-life balance with a flexible 35-hour full-time work week.

Requirements

  • Eligible to work a hybrid schedule under Empire Justice’s organizational policy.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in data collection, analysis, and/or project coordination.
  • Strong multitasking and time management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and in organizing data and information.
  • Proficiency in other Microsoft 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent skills in document and form creation, report writing, and data pulling.
  • Basic familiarity with learning graphic design tools (e.g., Canva).
  • Basic familiarity with learning website maintenance and content creation in WordPress.
  • Basic familiarity with learning the fundamentals of email marketing platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse team and external partners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working on behalf of marginalized communities.

  • Understanding of effective, well-organized visual design and layout.
  • Understanding of email design and distribution, and support management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage data collection and reporting systems.
  • Coordinate in-person and remote meetings and legal training sessions.
  • Maintain the DAP portal, website, and other resources.
  • Support the production and design of a quarterly newsletter, including project management, design, and electronic distribution.
  • Develop and maintain efficient data collection systems and processes.
  • Communicate with DAP programs statewide to collect accurate, complete case opening and closing data, and ensure timely reporting.
  • Generate quarterly and annual reports for OTDA, and other reports as needed.
  • Assist State Support attorneys and presenters with the planning and preparation of training materials.
  • Coordinate all logistics of hosting meetings and legal trainings, including technical aspects of webinars and in-person trainings.
  • Process expenses, billing for fee-for-service trainings, and honoraria.
  • Support the production of a quarterly newsletter, including design, distribution, management of distribution lists, and creation of webpages.
  • Work with internal teams and vendors to maintain and improve the Empire Justice DAP portal and website.
  • Develop and maintain systems and processes to track work.
  • Provide administrative support to DAP Statewide Attorney Coordinators and assist with other communications.
  • Coordinate with Marketing, Communications, Policy, and Operations teams for DAP-related issues and projects.
  • Demonstrate a high level of comfort and commitment to working with people from marginalized communities.
  • Work closely with your assigned supervisor and participate in regular supervision meetings.
  • Travel, as necessary.
  • Supervise other practice group members if needed.
  • Perform administrative and other support-related duties to serve clients and fulfill the mission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor and/or to meet the organization’s needs.
