About The Position

Make a meaningful difference to the university experience of students with disability. As a Disability Adviser at Monash University, you’ll provide specialist advice and support to students with complex and multifaceted needs, working with them to understand their circumstances and coordinate tailored academic adjustments that enable equitable access, participation and success. You’ll be part of a collaborative Disability Support Services team where your expertise, judgement and ability to build trusted relationships will have a direct impact on students’ experiences. Beyond individual student support, you’ll contribute to initiatives that strengthen disability support across the University. You’ll provide subject matter expertise, contribute to policy and process improvements, support peak-period planning, stay informed of legislative and sector developments, and explore innovative accessibility solutions to enhance student support. You’ll also contribute to professional development and awareness initiatives that build disability inclusion and understanding across Monash.

Requirements

Relevant degree and experience in disability, equity or a related field.
Sound knowledge of relevant legislation.
Experience supporting people with a diverse range of complex disabilities, including mental health, physical and neurological conditions.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to navigate complex matters, exercise sound judgement and negotiate positive outcomes.
Highly organised and detail-oriented.
Confident managing competing priorities.
Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
Experience working with complex systems such as CRM and student databases.
Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Nice To Haves

Experience assessing and coordinating reasonable adjustments in higher education or a similar setting.
