About The Position

The Dirt Operator General Foreman is responsible for overseeing safe work practices, ensuring adherence to project specifications, and managing work crews to achieve project objectives. This role involves interpreting blueprints, coordinating with other crafts, and ensuring the quality and timely completion of work. The General Foreman also plays a key role in employee feedback, discipline, and preplanning activities.

Requirements

  • 8 years of industrial construction experience
  • 4 years in supervisory roles
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Understanding of job specifications
  • Knowledge of Bechtel job procedures and work rules
  • Understanding of work scope and project priorities
  • Knowledge of other craft disciplines for work coordination
  • Ability to administer and enforce work and safety rules
  • Ability to provide guidance to foremen

Responsibilities

  • Conduct safe work observations and provide feedback/consequences for employee behavior.
  • Interpret blueprints, understand job specifications, and implement Bechtel procedures and work rules.
  • Understand work scope and integrate project priorities.
  • Instruct journeymen in craft tasks, safety procedures, and techniques.
  • Coordinate work between different craft disciplines.
  • Administer and enforce work and safety rules fairly and consistently.
  • Provide guidance to foremen to prevent work stoppages.
  • Ensure foremen are effectively supervising work crews.
  • Assign work plans based on priorities and schedules.
  • Identify problems and develop action plans for resolution.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to prevent scheduling conflicts.
  • Ensure the quality of work performed by supervised crafts.
  • Submit accurate reports on time sheets, backcharges, quantity, and work status.
  • Ensure crews understand assignments before starting work.
  • Participate in the exchange of ideas.
  • Administer praise and discipline consistently and fairly.
  • Conduct work preplanning and provide input at scheduling meetings.
  • Monitor work progress and report potential schedule problems.
