About The Position

The RTX Enterprise Services organization is currently recruiting for a Directory Services Engineer to join the Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) team. The Directory Services Engineer will be responsible for owning, operating, and enhancing the company’s External Identity Directory platform and its supporting cloud infrastructure within. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and security of identity services that support customer‑facing and partner‑integrated applications. Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining directory architectures, implementing identity lifecycle and access control best practices, monitoring platform health, developing automation, and supporting integrations with enterprise and cloud‑native applications. The engineer will collaborate closely with security, networking, and application teams to drive continuous improvement, ensure compliance, and deliver a resilient and scalable external identity environment.

Requirements

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • Experience working with Identity/Directory Services or Infrastructure Engineering
  • Experience working with authentication protocols (SAML 2.0, OIDC/OAuth 2.0, LDAP, Reverse Proxy)
  • Experience with an enterprise directory services platform
  • Experience with Network architecture, protocols, and enterprise firewall rules
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ Years experience owning an enterprise production identity system
  • Hands-on Experience specifically with Ping Directory Services and/or Ping Federate
  • Hands-on Experience maintaining and provisioning infrastructure in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management; ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain the External Identity Directory (PingDS) and associated AWS Infrastructure
  • Design secure, scalable identity solutions supporting B2B/B2C Scenarios, partner identitys, and application integrations
  • Define and maintain platform roadmaps, standards, and runbooks
  • Establish robust identity lifecycle processes (registration, verification, profile management, credential recovery, deactivation/cleanup).
  • Lead and execute on migration of External Identity Directory Services from the existing cloud hosting environment to the next gen RTX cloud environment
  • Partner with application teams to onboard services, map attributes/claims, and design secure integration patterns.
  • Work with Security and Compliance to implement data protection (encryption, token handling), privacy, and regulatory controls.
  • Troubleshoot complex identity issues across app, network, and infrastructure layers; lead incident response and postmortems.
