About the position
At Paradigm, we are seeking an experienced engineering leader to join our team and help build a world-class engineering organization. As a member of our engineering leadership team, you will be responsible for managing a team of 10-25 engineers, including managers, and ensuring their performance and delivery. Your role will involve providing a strong technical voice, implementing and evolving our engineering process, collaborating with the Product team to prioritize and deliver on product requirements, and championing a rewarding and productive company culture. Responsibilities
- Manage a team of 10-25 engineers, including managers, and be fully responsible for their performance and delivery
- Regularly review the work of the team, provide coaching, resolve conflicts and blocking dependencies
- Provide a strong technical voice on the team to ensure secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable design and architecture
- Implement and evolve the engineering process to keep up with the growing team, product features, and market traction
- Collaborate with the Product team to understand and resolve customer requirements and ensure delivery on product priorities
- Assist in recruiting efforts for the entire engineering team
- Champion a rewarding and productive company culture
- Understand and manage the resources, people, and technology that the teams need to share versus where they need to run independently
- Hold frequent syncs with team managers and dive deep into tech and product independently
- Monitor ongoing activities and intervene when things don't go well
- Work closely with product, quant, and business strategy departments to develop strong relationships and ensure smooth inter-departmental collaborations
- Spot problems and help managers make better decisions
- Assist when there are concerns or gaps in the team's work
- Take a hands-on approach to managing, understanding the product and technology deeply
- Operate in a resource-constrained situation and make significant progress before escalating issues
- Balance the need to support a live product while still building new features
- Have 10+ years of experience in high-performing software engineering organizations
- Have 5+ years of experience directly managing talented engineers
- Have 2+ years of experience managing managers
- Have experience managing all employment phases: interviewing, hiring, onboarding, evaluating and improving performance, promotions, and terminations
- Have a deep technical and product understanding of the problems the team solves, resulting from a product engineering background prior to, or alongside, management
- Have a passion for managing and leading engineering teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years experience in high-performing software engineering organizations
- 5+ years experience directly managing talented engineers
- 2+ years experience managing managers
