About The Position

The Director, Warehousing, Inventory Control & Logistics is a senior leadership role responsible for the end-to-end physical supply chain supporting IREN’s U.S. data center construction program. The role builds and leads the strategy, organization, and operational execution for warehousing, inventory control, and domestic and international logistics, ensuring critical construction materials, long-lead equipment, and electrical and mechanical infrastructure arrive at project sites on time, in full, and at the right cost. The position reports to the Vice President, Data Center Procurement. The Director designs and manages scalable networks of warehouses, laydown yards, regional distribution centers, and job-site staging areas, and leads freight, customs, inventory, and delivery operations across a distributed, multi-site environment. A near-term priority is replacing spreadsheet-based inventory practices with a formal inventory management platform or integrated platforms for infrastructure/construction materials and technology/IT assets. The role also defines how inventory interfaces with asset management, maintenance planning, and future CMMS/EAM systems. The role is primarily office-based, with regular travel to active construction sites, warehouses, and ports of entry. Travel may be domestic and occasionally international, up to 30–40%. The position requires walking active construction sites and warehouse facilities, with exposure to outdoor conditions and standard site PPE requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 12 years of progressive experience in warehousing, inventory management, and domestic/international logistics, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Direct experience supporting large-scale construction, industrial, or data center/mission-critical infrastructure programs.
  • Expertise in global freight, customs/trade compliance, and heavy-haul/oversize domestic transportation.
  • Track record building and scaling warehousing networks and inventory-control systems in a fast-growth, multi-site environment.
  • Proficiency with WMS, ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Experience leading selection and end-to-end implementation of an inventory management, WMS, or EAM/CMMS platform, ideally in an environment previously reliant on manual or spreadsheet-based tracking.
  • People-leadership skills and experience managing geographically distributed teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally up to 30–40% to active construction sites and logistics hubs.
  • Ability to walk active construction sites and warehouse facilities, including exposure to outdoor conditions and standard site PPE requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in data center, hyperscale, colocation, or large industrial capital construction programs.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent supply-chain credential.
  • Familiarity with procurement cycles for long-lead electrical and mechanical equipment, including switchgear, generators, UPS, and cooling systems.
  • Working knowledge of asset management and maintenance planning, including asset tagging and serialization, criticality-based spares strategy, CMMS/EAM data structures, and their integration with inventory control.
  • Experience implementing Lean/Six Sigma or continuous-improvement methodologies in a warehousing/logistics environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, establish, and manage warehouses, laydown yards, and staging facilities supporting concurrent U.S. data center construction projects.
  • Own inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and stock reconciliation programs; establish KPIs for inventory turns, fill rate, shrinkage, and carrying cost.
  • Select, implement, and optimize WMS and inventory-control technology, including RFID/barcode scanning, mobile data capture, and ERP integration.
  • Develop material-handling, storage, and safety standards across warehousing locations in compliance with OSHA and company EHS requirements.
  • Establish min/max stocking strategies and buffer inventory for long-lead and critical electrical, mechanical, and networking equipment.
  • Lead the transition from spreadsheet-based tracking to a formal inventory platform, including requirements definition, build-versus-buy evaluation, vendor selection, phased rollout, change management, and training.
  • Determine platform architecture for infrastructure/construction materials and technology/IT hardware, including whether a single system or integrated multi-system approach is appropriate.
  • Define operating interfaces among Inventory Control, Asset Management, and Maintenance Planning, including asset tagging and serialization, ownership handoff at commissioning, and criticality classification for spare parts.
  • Establish governance for item master, BOM, and location hierarchy data, and ensure inventory data structures can integrate with current and future CMMS/EAM systems.
  • Lead domestic transportation strategy, including truckload, LTL, flatbed, and specialized or oversize heavy-haul transportation.
  • Negotiate and manage carrier and 3PL contracts, rate agreements, and service-level performance to control freight spend and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate site delivery schedules with construction and project management teams to align material flow with construction sequencing and just-in-time delivery windows.
  • Develop contingency and expedite plans for transportation delays, capacity constraints, and permitting or routing issues.
  • Direct global freight forwarding, ocean and air import strategy, and customs brokerage relationships for internationally sourced equipment and components.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. import/export regulations, tariff classification, customs valuation, and trade compliance programs such as ISF and C-TPAT.
  • Partner with Sourcing and Procurement on Incoterms and total-landed-cost strategies to optimize cost, transit time, and risk.
  • Monitor global supply-chain risks and develop mitigation, dual-sourcing, and routing strategies.
  • Build, mentor, and scale managers and supervisors across warehousing, inventory, and logistics.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Construction Management, Engineering, Data Center Operations, Asset Management, IT, and Finance to align logistics with capital project schedules and budgets.
  • Own and report supply-chain performance metrics, including OTIF, freight cost per project, inventory accuracy, and dwell time, to executive leadership.
  • Develop and manage the annual warehousing and logistics operating budget and deliver cost-reduction and process-improvement initiatives.
  • Establish business continuity and disaster recovery plans for critical logistics and warehousing operations.
