About The Position

The Head of the Americas VP Office is a member of the Americas Travel Unit senior leadership team and serves as a trusted strategic advisor to the EVP of Americas and the rest of the senior leadership team to achieve maximum success across the Travel Sellers, Airlines, and Airports and Border Authorities verticals. The team is responsible for over $1 Billion in annual revenue and has significant growth ambitions and targets. This is a high visibility, high impact role requiring frequent daily interaction with the Americas EVP and leadership team members, as well as with business partners and business line stakeholders globally. The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen and will be a strategic thinker who understands the travel technology business model and landscape and has a level of familiarity with the three customer verticals. The candidate must also be a strong team leader, with responsibility for managing a team of four VPO representatives who provide a broad range of business consulting, governance, engagement, project management and other support to enable success support across customer verticals and leadership team members. The successful candidate will have a highly professional demeanor with strong senior executive presence, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to manage a broad range of high priority tasks and responsibilities. This is a critical role for supporting the Americas organization responsible for >$1 Billion in revenue in 2025, and with the ambition to grow to $1.5 Billion by 2030.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the travel industry, with strong knowledge of the travel technology sector
  • Knowledge of the travel technology business model - with specific knowledge of the business models across the relevant verticals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – and skills with presenting complex information to executive audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with senior management and team leaders across various functions
  • Experience managing large, complex projects, with formal project management training/certification a plus
  • Proven ability to manage programs and projects across virtual teams – and to drive accountability and results with team members at all levels, including senior team leaders
  • Significant experience with program scorecards and managing effective project health evaluation and reporting processes
  • Strong MS Office skills, with demonstrated experience developing well-structured PowerPoint presentations to effectively communicate complex information

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Chief of Staff for the EVP Americas, responsible for ongoing refinement and execution of the governance and engagement framework for the region, and play a key role as the Americas lead for a broad range of regional strategy and planning responsibilities.
  • Have a broad understanding of the business across customer verticals and leverage that knowledge to ensure effective management of strategic programs and to recommend solutions/best practices and otherwise influence the Americas region strategy.
  • Take ownership of specific strategic projects/programs for the Americas region.
  • Translate the strategy into concrete action plans, setting and monitoring targets for the team.
  • Work independently, based on senior management directions.
  • May coordinate functional teams or projects and serves as a best practice/quality resource.
  • Serve as co-program owner with Strategy team for the 5-year Growth Ambition and Strategy for all customer verticals - including ongoing updates, refinement and scorecard tracking
  • Collaborate with Business Line stakeholders to plan and execute monthly/quarterly bilateral leadership collaboration and alignment sessions focused on top priority initiatives and requests across verticals to ensure we are best positioned for success in the Americas
  • Plan and ensure effective execution of weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly Americas Leadership calls/meetings and business performance reviews (includes capturing and tracking action items to closure/escalation)
  • Own the EVP internal engagement plan, including Americas Live sessions
  • Provide external communications support to the EVP, including presentations, talking points, customer profiles, industry event invitee lists, etc.
  • Head of VPO team also reviews all press releases in which the EVP and/or N-2’s are mentioned/quoted.
  • Manage Quarterly Strategic Initiative Reviews across verticals to ensure effective and comprehensive health checks and progress reports for the Americas strategy execution
  • Be accountable for Quarterly TU Management meeting material preparation across verticals
  • Lead Deal Desk planning across verticals in collaboration with Growth and Finance teams
  • Serve as regional point and manage a variety of ad hoc and periodic responsibilities on behalf of the region (e.g. the ongoing Corporate Internal Audit; annual Corporate Risk Audit; annual Corporate Questionnaire)
