About The Position

The Turnaround & Non-Routine Maintenance Director is responsible for leading and managing the Turnaround Maintenance Department. This includes selecting, developing, training, and mentoring staff, as well as organizing and staffing the department to meet operational and executive management goals. The role involves overseeing the development and implementation of equipment reliability programs, procedures, and policies, and managing contracts with external vendors and suppliers. A key aspect of the position is fostering strong working relationships between contractors, vendors, and internal departments such as Field Operations, Project Management, and Field Engineering. The Director is also responsible for setting and achieving departmental goals, managing expense and capital budgets, and participating in industry associations.

Requirements

  • Four year post secondary degree in engineering or an equipment related field is required.
  • Five or more years of leadership experience at the manager level or above in the energy or equipment industry is required.
  • Proven leadership skills in the areas of communication, organization, influencing and conflict resolution are required.
  • Proven leadership skills in the operations, maintenance, or engineering of mechanical and electrical equipment is required.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and influence various individuals and groups across organizational lines in required.
  • Proven ability to effectively develop, manage, improve, and maintain relationships with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Proven organization skills and abilities is required.
  • Proven ability to evaluate issues, define requirements, and implement action plans to accomplish organizational goals is required.
  • Mobility to walk and access field assets is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ten or more years of energy related experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of midstream energy industry facilities such as pipelines (gas, liquids, natural gas liquids), pump and compressor stations, gas and liquid measurement facilities, above and below ground storage, liquid terminals, rail loading/unloading facilities, marine loading/unloading facilities, gas processing facilities, or natural gas liquids fractionation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Selection, development, training and mentoring of Managers and other direct reports.
  • Organization, alignment, and staffing of the Turnaround Maintenance Department to meet the goals and expectations of field operations and executive management.
  • Oversight and guidance of the origination, development, modification, and implementation of equipment reliability, programs, procedures, policies and manuals.
  • Oversight and guidance of the development, improvement, maintenance, and performance of agreements and contracts with outside equipment contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Creating, developing, and improving working relationship between outside contractors, equipment vendors, Field Operations, Project Management, Field Engineering and other internal departments.
  • Setting and achieving departmental goals that support and meet the expectations of executive management.
  • Developing, monitoring and achieving departmental expense and capital budgets.
  • Participation in industry associations as appropriate.
