Director, Translational Medicine

Uniquity Bio Inc.San Diego, CA
Hybrid

About The Position

Uniquity Bio is a clinical-stage biotechnology company committed to putting science and patients first. We exist to develop transformative new medicines for immune-mediated diseases, and we’re looking for bright-minded professionals driven by a desire to advance science and make a difference for people in need. Our lead asset, solrikitug, is a highly-potent TSLP inhibitor now in Phase 2 clinical trials for asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) indications. Join us in building an organization where people and science thrive together. You’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working alongside a talented, agile team in an environment where ideas move quickly, colleagues are trusted, and quality remains a cornerstone. The Director of Translational Medicine will report directly to the Vice President of Translational Medicine and Early Development and work closely with cross-functional members of the Uniquity organization (e.g. Clinical, regulatory, clinical pharmacology, product strategy, project management) to provide scientific leadership for translational studies across respiratory and gastrointestinal programs. The Director will design, manage, and interpret external academic collaborations and CRO run studies, translate mechanistic competitive intelligence into experimental and clinical insight, and support clinical biomarker strategy development and execution. The Director will also support internal mechanism training and external communication of translational studies.

Requirements

  • PhD in immunology or closely related field
  • Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience in translational medicine/research, early-stage development or pharmacology in biotech/pharmaceutical drug development
  • Proven track record designing and interpreting translational studies (in vitro, in vivo, and clinical biomarker work).
  • Experience managing external academic collaborations, KOL relationships, and CROs
  • Experience with clinical biomarker assays (flow cytometry, ELISA, multiplex cytokine platforms, histology/IHC) and sample handling workflows

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in eosinophil biology or type 2 inflammation in respiratory or GI diseases is preferred
  • Prior experience supporting IND-enabling work is a plus
  • Prior experience supporting monoclonal antibody or bispecific development programs is a plus
  • Experience in emerging/growing companies desired

Responsibilities

  • Design, oversee, and interpret external CRO-run translational research studies that establish mechanism-of-action for early and late-stage programs (protocol development, study design, data review, and interpretation).
  • Collaborate with external academic partners and KOLs — establish study aims, ensure scientific rigor, manage timelines and deliverables, and maintain strong scientific relationships.
  • Critically review experimental design and methodology across programs to ensure robustness, reproducibility, and appropriate statistical considerations.
  • Provide mechanistic interpretation of competitive intelligence across respiratory and GI immunology & inflammation (I&I) programs; translate competitor biology and data into implications for our assets and experimental plans.
  • Support evaluation and provide scientific rationale for future indication expansion opportunities
  • Support clinical biomarker activities including sample management, assay selection, vendor selection and management, QC, and data integration from clinical studies.
  • Communicate translational findings clearly to cross-functional partners (e.g. clinical, non-clinical, regulatory, commercial, and leadership) and contribute to regulatory/clinical briefing materials as needed.
