The Director – Total Rewards & HR Operations reports to the Chief People Officer and is an experienced people leader who understands how thoughtful rewards and modern systems shape the employee experience. This role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution, focusing on designing efficient, people-friendly total rewards and HR operations programs. The Director will lead confidently at the intersection of compensation, benefits, wellness, and HR technology, partnering closely with business leaders and the People team to translate business priorities into fair, competitive, and compliant rewards programs and digital solutions that support employees across the lifecycle. The ideal candidate possesses a "superpower" of seeing the big picture while diving into details, leads with an equity-centered, merit-based mindset, and thrives in dynamic environments where continuous improvement is expected. They are comfortable architecting strategy and executing it. They will partner closely with People Effectiveness and People Experience leaders to align total rewards, wellness, and development with organizational goals through scalable, personalized programs that are people-centric and technology-enabled, aiming to deliver a best-in-class people experience that enables teams to do their best work.

Requirements

  • You hold a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Finance.
  • With 5-8 years of experience, you bring proven expertise in compensation and benefits leadership and in designing and implementing total rewards programs.
  • You bring a deep understanding of compensation and benefits compliance requirements, labor laws, and regulations across multiple jurisdictions and can ensure adherence to all relevant employment laws.
  • You have experience in AI HR strategy, HRIS and compensations tools and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of total rewards programs including compensation structures, salary benchmarking, benefits packages, recognition programs, and pay equity practices.
  • Ensure programs remain competitive, cost-effective, equitable, and aligned with the needs of a multi-state workforce while conducting market analyses to inform pay positioning and structure design.
  • Develop and optimize comprehensive compensation strategy aligned with business objectives, conduct salary benchmarking and market pricing analyses to ensure competitive positioning.
  • Design salary structures, evaluate job roles, recommend appropriate salary bands, and provide guidance on complex pay decisions while managing annual compensation processes and ensuring internal equity and meritorious rewards.
  • Oversee full benefits administration including plan design, vendor selection, and employee education initiatives for health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and time off.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiations, oversee benefits enrollment processes, and serve as primary escalation point for employee benefits situations while ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage HRIS operations that support the employee lifecycle, implementing automated workflows for recruiting, onboarding, performance and compensation management, and payroll.
  • Lead technology integration projects to replace manual, paper-based processes with data-driven, automated systems that enhance efficiency and employee experience.
  • Deploy people analytics dashboards and predictive models to transform HR from reactive to proactive decision-making.
  • Work with teams across the organization to adopt AI usage and governance in their work.
  • Ensure total rewards programs comply with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations across a multi-state workforce.
  • Conduct audits and reviews of programs to maintain compliance, manage labor law requirements, and ensure governance standards are met while maintaining data security and privacy.
  • Working in unison with the Director – Communications & Employee Experience to develop materials for total rewards programs and deliver presentations to employees and leadership.
  • Translate data and insights into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership, and mentor team members to foster strong technical expertise and business acumen.
  • Serve as the strategic advisor and resources for management training and employee related supervisory training.
