About The Position
The Director, Technical Program Management leads the planning and execution of complex, large-scale technical programs, ensuring alignment across multiple teams and business areas. This role drives strategic decision-making, manages cross-functional dependencies, and oversees end-to-end system design and delivery. The position requires expertise in program management, technical architecture, and stakeholder engagement to optimize resources, mitigate risks, and enhance operational efficiency. The director mentors teams, fosters continuous improvement, and champions scalable processes to achieve business objectives while maintaining high standards of quality and innovation. About the team: Our team directs technology prioritization for Global Product and Design, focusing engineering efforts on high-impact initiatives. We equip product managers worldwide with advanced tools and technology to exceed objectives. Utilizing data-driven insights and cross-functional collaboration, we develop strategic product roadmaps aligned with business goals. The team drives innovation by assessing emerging trends and ensures efficient resource allocation. Committed to excellence, we support scalable product development and deliver solutions that address complex customer needs while maintaining alignment with overall company strategy.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in program and project management, including planning, risk mitigation, and delivery of large-scale technical programs.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex dependencies across multiple workstreams.
- Strong technical expertise in system design, cloud infrastructure, software and hardware lifecycles, and emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing to align priorities and drive consensus.
- Proficiency in defining measurable goals, analyzing data for decision-making, and driving continuous process improvements.
- Experience mentoring team members and fostering high-performing, collaborative environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 7 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
- OR 9 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in Project Management.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 5 years’ experience in product design.
- Supervisory experience.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices and Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and execution of large-scale technical programs, managing cross-functional dependencies and resource alignment to meet delivery goals.
- Define and drive end-to-end system solution designs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with business objectives.
- Identify and mitigate risks, resolve ambiguities, and implement process improvements to enhance program efficiency and outcomes.
- Mentor and guide team members on best practices in program management, technical design, and stakeholder communication.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to secure buy-in, align priorities, and communicate program status through data-driven insights.
- Promote automation and tooling to increase engineering velocity and reduce operational overhead.
