About The Position

The Director of Teaching and Learning serves as the College’s lead resource for teaching excellence, faculty development, instructional innovation, artificial intelligence integration, and evidence-based educational practices. The Director collaborates with the Associate Vice President of Instruction to develop and implement annual professional development programs that reflect emerging pedagogical trends, instructional technologies, and AI applications in teaching and learning. The Director designs and delivers professional development opportunities, develops and leads the College’s strategy for the ethical and effective integration of artificial intelligence into curriculum, instruction, and faculty development, oversees the Teaching and Learning Makerspace, and tracks faculty participation in professional development activities. The Director identifies discipline-specific professional development needs and develop targeted training opportunities. The Director develops, implements, and maintains New Faculty Orientation; administers the Faculty Enhancement Budget; develops and delivers faculty advising training; and coordinates transfer fairs. The Director collaborates with 13 programs to provide professional development that supports programmatic accreditation requirements and advances instructional quality and student success. The Director administers the College’s student evaluation of teaching system, oversees the collection and analysis of instructional effectiveness data, and provides reports and recommendations to academic leaders to support faculty development, continuous improvement, and institutional decision-making.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in discipline taught at the College or in Curriculum Design or a related field.
• Work experience with Canvas.
• Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Responsibilities

• Leads the College’s teaching and learning strategy by identifying emerging pedagogical trends, instructional technologies, and AI applications; developing annual faculty development priorities; and aligning initiatives with institutional goals.
• Designs, delivers, and assesses faculty professional development programs, workshops, learning communities, and instructional resources that support teaching excellence and student success.
• Develops and leads the College’s strategy for the ethical and effective integration of artificial intelligence into curriculum, instruction, and faculty development.
• Administers the College’s student evaluation of teaching system, oversee the collection and analysis of instructional effectiveness data, and provide reports and recommendations to academic leaders.
• Collaborates with deans, department chairs, and program leaders to identify discipline-specific professional development needs and support accreditation-related faculty development initiatives.
• Develops, implements, and maintains New Faculty Orientation, faculty advising training, and other onboarding initiatives; coordinate transfer fairs and related student success activities
• Administers the Faculty Enhancement Budget and oversee the Teaching and Learning Makerspace in partnership with Locke Library staff.
• Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
