About The Position

The Director of R&D Incentives is responsible to lead the R&D Incentives Team in ensuring that Ericsson fully leverages all available government research and development (R&D) incentive programs, starting with, but not limited to the tax credits for Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) (in Canada and the US). This role combines strategic insight, technological expertise, and a hands-on leadership approach to identify opportunities, guide compliance, enable informed decision-making and drive long-term organizational benefits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Sciences, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Broad knowledge of current mobile network technologies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills combined with intellectual curiosity and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing teams, budgets, complex engagements.
  • Fluent in both French & English

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of R&D Incentives professionals, ensuring consistent delivery quality, standardized methodologies, and strong technical execution.
  • Assess, review and sign off on filing of claims: SR&ED (Canada), eBusiness (QC) and R&D Tax Credits (US) to ensure compliance with federal and provincial R&D tax credit requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement, automation, analytics, and operational excellence.
  • Establish the overall claim and defense strategy, using a variety of approaches (technological, fiscal, legal, political, etc.)
  • Participate in the determination of the acceptable risk level for Ericsson, beyond which not to claim, which implies ensuring that laws and regulations are respected, and Ericsson's reputation is at all times protected
  • Identify and analyze alternate funding opportunities for Ericsson: government subsidies for capital expenditure, training to R&D personnel, tax credits for university contracts and chairs, etc.
  • Develop a successful and open relationship with CRA/ARQ and IQ both at the local and national level
  • Participate in communication strategies within Ericsson to ensure the best usage of ITCs (Investment Tax Credits) in attracting new R&D mandates to Ericsson Canada or protecting existing ones
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and operational support to ensure readiness of processes, tools, and teams.
