About The Position

The Director of Surveillance is responsible for the overall operation of the Surveillance Department, ensuring employees have the necessary tools and training to perform their duties and achieve career goals. This role ensures adherence to state regulations for CCTV Surveillance Systems and company guidelines. This is a key level position requiring a key license, with the ability to make discretionary decisions or long-range policy determinations impacting gaming operations.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to obtain the appropriate license pursuant to the applicable statute, rules and regulations.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in the casino surveillance field.
  • Five (5) years of management/supervisory experience in the gaming industry required.
  • Knowledge of casino operations required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and inference.
  • Ability to create, read and analyze spreadsheets of statistical data.
  • Ability to decipher various reports and maintain reports upon request.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • Second language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out procedures, train, schedule, and evaluate personnel in keeping with corporate objectives, specifically supervising and coordinating activities related to the surveillance of gaming operations, NYSGC, and cage booth cashiers, including the audio/visual recording of count room operations.
  • Oversee facility operations by researching, evaluating, and testing surveillance technology to develop the most appropriate system for security and cost efficiency.
  • Review current systems and make recommendations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company rules and regulations.
  • Conduct surveillance investigations utilizing all systems and coordinate with outside law enforcement agencies for proper handling of civil violations by patrons or employees; may occasionally appear in court with corporate attorneys to assist in criminal justice proceedings.
  • Coordinate and oversee investigations concerning allegations of employee misconduct, theft, or violation of any policy or procedure.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor emergency procedures for prompt and safe handling of emergencies such as fire, flood, or bomb threats.
  • Work with operating departments to design and conduct highly sensitive investigations to facilitate fact-finding and probe into potentially illegal or inappropriate activities.
  • Review all daily activity reports and provide direction for the protection of assets.
  • Select, train, develop, schedule, and direct Surveillance staff.
  • Formulate, implement, and educate on company policies and procedures.
  • Attend periodic meetings and training sessions.
  • Work with safety as a priority and follow department and company safety standards.
  • Maintain relevant knowledge of the industry through continuing education and training.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
