About The Position

Monterey Park Hospital, a 101-acute care facility located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is seeking a Full-Time Director of Surgical Services for our Surgery Department. This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer. The Surgical Services Department includes the Operating Rooms, PACU, GI Lab, Sterile Processing, and Outpatient Surgery. Our Perioperative Department provides General Surgery, Orthopedics, GYN, ENT, Neurosurgery, Endoscopy/GI, Urology, Vascular, and Thoracic services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • CNOR required.
  • 2 years of leadership experience required.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS required from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with The Joint Commission, Title XXII, CMS, and current state and federal regulations.
  • Create and drive a culture and environment of superior quality and patient safety, while maintaining regulatory compliance at the highest standards.
  • Establish the overall direction for perioperative services.
  • Assure that the patient care units maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory and other standards regularly.
  • Ensure financial viability and stewardship through revenue enhancement and cost management systems.
  • Keep staff productivity at the requested levels.
  • Continually supervise the quality and effectiveness of patient care delivered by assigned employees in the patient care units in consultation with other members of the management team and exert influence and give direction to employees for patient teaching and other activities as needed.
  • Evaluate overall patient care and related activities to ensure consistency with hospital strategies and objectives.
  • Deliver extraordinary service and customer experience at all times, and motivate staff to also achieve maximum patient or client satisfaction.
  • Manage patient care and related staff by participating in the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, promoting, and discharging staff as needed or directed, and conducting timely initial and annual employee performance evaluations and competency reviews.
  • Hold staff accountable for their job responsibilities.
  • Empower and encourage others to contribute creative and innovative approaches to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Promote effective safety and infection control practices among employees and in the environment, keeping updated on safety policies and procedures, etc.
