About The Position

Etz Hayim owns and operates the brands Cycling Frog and Lazarus Naturals, with a comprehensive operation that includes farming, extraction, chemical processing, packaging, supply chain, and warehousing. Lazarus Naturals focuses on making quality hemp-based CBD accessible through a vertically integrated process and offers an assistance program. Cycling Frog aims to normalize casual use THC products by offering affordable, sessionable THC beverages. This role is based in Portland, Oregon and reports to the CEO.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of senior-level experience managing a production/packaging team.
  • 15+ years of experience in food and/or beverage production.
  • Experience at multiple company sizes and maturities, specifically at start-ups and mid-stage companies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Passionate and skilled at recruiting, training, and coaching team members.
  • Self-starter with excellent prioritization skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, results-focused environment.
  • Software experience: Google Sheets/Excel, ERP experience, and the ability and interest to learn new software.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in METRC regulated cannabis operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Operational leadership to develop the strategic operations plan for business growth, efficiency, and future preparedness.
  • Develop, present, and lead Capex and improvement plans for production to support growth strategy and forecasts, including planning, ROI analysis, risk analysis, and execution.
  • Manage the annual production and staffing plan.
  • Develop and execute product cost targets and long-term goals to drive profitability, identifying key cost drivers and areas for savings.
  • Partner with Finance & BI teams to enhance visibility and reporting for targets, goals, and KPIs, enabling real-time performance understanding for floor-level teams.
  • Manage the implementation of workstation time-card tracking for live production costing by work order, automated reporting, and time logging verification.
  • Clearly define goals and responsibilities for production teams, fostering ownership and accountability.
  • Manage the production schedule and proactively mitigate inventory out-of-stocks by working cross-functionally.
  • Manage production and formulation teams, ensuring quality standards and process adherence.
  • Lead production and formulation teams to improve efficiency through capability building and better practices, understanding processes to drive product quality, reduce out-of-stock risks, and enhance efficiency.
  • Lead the implementation of lean principles across all production aspects, driving root cause analysis and lasting solutions.
  • Drive operational excellence and efficiency by developing plans and securing buy-in for personnel, facility, and Capex changes.
  • Lead the determination, implementation, and onboarding of proper systems for Portland production teams, including ERP operations modules and supporting tools, training, third-party systems, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement proactive measures with the Quality & Sanitation team to manage product quality and hold the production team accountable to standards.
  • Build Capacity Planning tools that integrate with forecast and demand planning to assess equipment and personnel capacity.
  • Manage, train, and inspire the team, fostering an environment of initiative, open communication, accountability, and excellence.
  • Engage hands-on with operational practices, processes, systems, and on-the-floor operations.
  • Provide coaching and development for staff to create clear career paths and support their success and career growth.
  • Build and manage labor and departmental budgets, proactively managing against demand and labor capacity planning tools.
  • Take a long-term view of the organization, focusing on building a company that services customers and provides value and solutions.
