About The Position

The Director of Strategic Initiatives & Execution will lead and drive the execution of critical Quality and Compliance (“Q&C”)-wide strategic initiatives, partnering closely within Quality & Compliance and/or cross-functionally across J&J to identify, launch, and lead critical projects with measurable outcomes and impact to the function, J&J sectors, and patients. In parallel, the director will provide strategic business partnership to the Q&C finance team, partnering closely to shape strategic narratives on annual financial deliverables, including the long-range financial plan, business plan, quarterly reporting, and current year forecast updates. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Strategic Insights & Performance Management and will work closely with the Chief Quality Officer and Q&C Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and demonstrated progression
  • Project leadership experience with a strong track record of timely execution and driving outcomes through influencing others, especially non-direct reports
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information, frame decisions, and deliver executive-ready storylines and materials
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; strong data visualization and presentation craftsmanship

  • Experience from a top-tier management consulting firm (or investment bank) with demonstrated progression
  • Advanced degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Natural / Physical sciences, Computer Science, Technology, or related field
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including scenario/sensitivity analysis and the ability to translate numerical output into executive insights

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic finance as the business finance lead for corporate Q&C, developing strategic narratives in close partnership with Q&C Finance on annual financial deliverables, including the long-range financial plan, business plan, quarterly reporting, and current year forecast updates.
  • Provide planning and oversight for the Q&C Strategic Insights & Performance Management organization budget, which includes the budget of the Office of the CQO, leading annual budget planning, monthly tracking / reconciliation / analysis, and ongoing reporting and management of purchases / spending.
  • Develop sustainable approach, in partnership with Q&C Finance, to provide ongoing visibility, detailed financial and headcount reporting for the corporate Q&C budget, including planned versus actual, for both what is directly in corporate Q&C and for headcount directly funded by sector or partner functions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities to advance the overall Q&C vision and strategic imperatives, focusing on organizational-wide innovations to pursue, efficiencies to capture, gaps to enhance, and risks to mitigate that better enable Q&C to deliver on its mandate to the enterprise.
  • Translate prioritized opportunities into actionable projects, refining scope, business case, project plan, resourcing and measurement of success to secure leadership buy-in and funding where required.
  • Lead end-to-end and day-to-day execution and delivery of critical Q&C initiatives and projects, including planning / work-stream development, resource and team set up, governance, risk mitigation, change management, and communications to drive stakeholder alignment.
  • Drive execution of required initiatives based on enterprise, Technical Operations & Risk, and/or cross-functional priorities and initiatives, including planning, execution, governance, risk management / escalation.
  • Serve as Q&C lead on cross-functional initiatives, partnering effectively with cross-functional teams while ensuring clear representation of Q&C requirements and effective alignment from relevant Q&C leadership.
  • Support other responsibilities, projects, and deliverables across Strategic Insights and Performance Management team as dynamically required, potentially with limited possible advanced planning.
  • Lead project-based team(s) effectively while more broadly role modeling strategic initiative execution and project management best practices.
  • Facilitate mutual talent development for Strategic Insights and Performance Management organization, facilitating sharing of areas of strengths and expertise through formal peer development channels and informal connections.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to more junior talent in Strategic Insights and Performance Management organization.
