We are seeking a Director, Strategic Technology Portfolio Operations to help lead portfolio governance, investment readiness, and executive decision support for a high-visibility, multi-year enterprise technology investment portfolio. This portfolio supports strategic capabilities that drive modernization, enterprise reuse, operational efficiency, cost savings, innovation, and measurable business value. This senior individual contributor role will partner across Technology, Finance, and business leadership to strengthen portfolio transparency, financial stewardship, governance discipline, and execution confidence. The ideal candidate is a strategic portfolio operator who can connect enterprise priorities to investment decisions, synthesize complex inputs into clear executive insights, and drive alignment across a large matrixed organization. The role will provide indirect leadership and work direction to junior team members and cross-functional contributors, while also supporting select leadership-sponsored initiatives beyond the core portfolio. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in portfolio operations, enterprise program management, technology transformation, or investment governance
  • 5+ years of healthcare industry experience, with experience supporting enterprise technology portfolios, transformation programs, shared capabilities, or large-scale cross-functional initiatives
  • 3+ years supporting senior leadership through investment governance, portfolio reviews, strategic planning, operating reviews, capital planning discussions, or executive decision forums
  • Experience synthesizing financial, operational, and strategic inputs into executive-ready materials, insights, and recommendations for VP-level or above audiences
  • Experience with cost-benefit analysis, capital approvals, investment prioritization, financial readiness reviews, benefits tracking, or value realization

  • Experience supporting technology investment portfolios of $50M+ annually or complex multi-year enterprise portfolios
  • Experience improving portfolio governance, investment intake processes, executive reporting routines, operating models, or cross-functional ways of working

Responsibilities

  • Lead portfolio operations for a multi-year enterprise technology investment portfolio, including governance routines, investment intake, executive readiness, portfolio insights, and decision support
  • Guide investment candidate readiness by helping teams clarify strategic value, enterprise impact, scope, funding needs, expected benefits, adoption plans, risks, and stakeholder alignment
  • Shape executive portfolio and investment governance discussions by synthesizing portfolio health, financial considerations, delivery progress, dependencies, tradeoffs, and leadership decision points
  • Partner across Technology, Finance, and business leadership to strengthen capital planning coordination, benefits tracking, investment prioritization, portfolio transparency, and value realization
  • Develop executive-ready materials and recommendations, including portfolio updates, investment summaries, decision packages, financial views, leadership readouts, and follow-up actions
  • Improve portfolio operating practices, including intake standards, governance routines, executive reporting, decision processes, data quality, and stakeholder engagement
  • Provide indirect leadership, coaching, and work direction to junior team members supporting portfolio operations, reporting, and governance activities
  • Support select leadership-sponsored special projects by bringing structure, analysis, stakeholder alignment, and executive-ready deliverables to high-priority enterprise initiatives
