About The Position

As Director of Strategic Sourcing & Category Strategy for Enterprise Technology, you will own Zoom’s largest and most technically complex sourcing portfolio - cloud, infrastructure, software, hardware, telecommunications, and AI - with full accountability for category strategy, commercial outcomes, and team leadership. This role will shape multiyear category roadmaps that translate engineering demand, market dynamics, and supplier leverage into measurable enterprise value. You will lead and develop a high-performing sourcing team, setting the commercial standard and strategic ambition for how Zoom engages its most significant technology suppliers. You will serve as the senior commercial partner to Engineering, Infrastructure, IT, Security, and Finance leadership, bringing market intelligence and negotiation strategy to the table before decisions are made. You will drive transformation from reactive renewals to proactive category ownership through disciplined planning, AI-enabled workflows, and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management, with progressive leadership responsibility within enterprise software, cloud, infrastructure, or technology environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Deep experience owning large-scale technology categories - cloud/hyperscaler negotiations, enterprise software portfolios, infrastructure sourcing, and complex multi-stakeholder commercial decisions.
  • Commercial fluency across technology pricing models: consumption-based cloud, committed-use agreements, ELAs, SaaS subscriptions, hardware, colocation, and telecom contracts.
  • Track record building and executing multiyear category strategies that deliver sustained portfolio-level value - not just individual deal wins.
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels: set direction, build roadmaps, coach teams, and ensure disciplined delivery.
  • Experience leading sourcing teams in environments that are scaling, transforming, or moving to a category-led model.
  • Excellent analytical and financial acumen - spend analytics, cost modeling, TCO, business case development.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with credibility across Engineering, IT, Finance, Legal, Security, and executive leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or relevant certification (CPSM, MCIPS) is nice to have.
  • Direct experience with hyperscale cloud providers, major enterprise platforms, or large infrastructure suppliers is very valued.
  • Cloud FinOps, SaaS optimization, or technology portfolio rationalization experience is nice to have.
  • Management consulting, Big Four, or procurement transformation background is nice to have.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and owning category strategies for the full enterprise technology portfolio, grounded in market analysis, spend segmentation, supplier landscape assessment, and business demand forecasting.
  • Building multiyear sourcing roadmaps connecting technology investment cycles, architecture decisions, and contract timelines into a coherent commercial strategy with clear leverage points.
  • Identifying market shifts, emerging suppliers, consolidation opportunities, and pricing model evolution to maintain competitive positioning.
  • Leading the most complex and highest-value negotiations - hyperscaler commitments, enterprise platform renewals, infrastructure investments, and strategic new-supplier engagements.
  • Setting negotiation strategy and deal architecture for major transactions, ensuring clear BATNAs, competitive tension, and terms that preserve business flexibility.
  • Driving supplier strategies beyond unit price: commitment structures, flexibility provisions, performance guarantees, exit rights, usage economics, and co-investment opportunities.
  • Establishing an effective operating rhythm - pipeline reviews, renewal readiness, savings forecasts, governance checkpoints, and executive reporting - ensuring nothing material is reactive.
  • Drive proactive renewal management with 12-month forward visibility and strategy development well before expiration.
  • Ensuring consistent execution with clear prioritization scaled to deal complexity.
  • Serving as the trusted commercial advisor to Engineering, IT, Security, and Finance leadership on technology supplier and investment decisions.
  • Creating earlier engagement with stakeholders - shaping demand, influencing requirements, and surfacing commercial implications before commitments are made.
  • Translating complex trade-offs (cost vs. flexibility vs. risk vs. speed) into clear, executive-ready recommendations.
  • Leading, coaching, and developing the Technology sourcing team with clear expectations for commercial rigor, category expertise, and execution quality.
  • Building a culture of curiosity, market awareness, and continuous improvement where team members grow into effective commercial leaders.
  • Establishing role clarity, operating norms, and performance expectations that enable autonomy with alignment.
  • Using data, market intelligence, and analytics to identify savings opportunities, commercial risk, supplier concentration, and renewal exposure.
  • Championing AI-enabled tools that reduce administrative burden, accelerate analysis, and increase time on strategy and supplier engagement.
