About The Position

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is seeking a Director, Strategic Investor Relations to lead and strengthen its global investor engagement approach. This role is critical for attracting long-term institutional investors to invest in IFC-originated emerging market assets, supporting IFC's goal of creating jobs and mobilizing private capital at scale. The Director will manage key institutional investor relationships, expand and diversify the investor base, align investor mandates with mobilization priorities, enhance IFC's market presence, and integrate investor intelligence into decision-making. This position is integral to embedding IFC's originate-to-distribute (OtD) business model into its operating model and will serve as a senior member of the Capital Mobilization Vice Presidency team.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, economics, or a related field.
  • At least 20 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Extensive expertise in OtD, institutional investor engagement, capital markets, asset management, development finance, or related fields.
  • Proven track record in mobilizing private capital at scale through syndications, co-investments, structured finance, or other investment platforms.
  • Strong credibility and presence with senior institutional investors.
  • Ability to align investor mandates, risk appetites, and return expectations with capital mobilization priorities.
  • Exceptional leadership in complex, matrixed, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Ability to set strategic direction, build high-performing teams, foster collaboration, and lead organizational change.
  • Excellent business judgment and analytical capability.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under uncertainty and translate market intelligence into clear strategic guidance.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a global investor relations coverage model and investor relationship management function.
  • Design and oversee a tiered global investor coverage framework, segmenting investors by strategic importance, asset class focus, geographic mandate, and mobilization potential.
  • Serve as the senior relationship manager for IFC’s most significant institutional investors and cultivate trusted, long-term relationships.
  • Coordinate across regional teams and country offices for consistent investor engagement.
  • Oversee the development and execution of customized engagement plans for priority investors.
  • Serve as a core member of the senior team embedding IFC’s OtD business model into IFC’s operating model.
  • Contribute investor perspectives to the design and evolution of distribution channels, mobilization vehicles, and governance arrangements.
  • Collaborate to shape mobilization solutions responsive to investor requirements.
  • Direct systematic market mapping to identify prospective investors aligned with IFC’s capital mobilization strategy.
  • Oversee targeted outreach initiatives, roadshows, and investor education programs.
  • Represent IFC in senior-level engagements at major global investor conferences and industry forums.
  • Strengthen and drive the linkage between investor engagement and capital mobilization outcomes.
  • Maintain a continuous feedback loop between investor sentiment and IFC’s product development, pricing, and structuring.
  • Monitor global capital market trends, regulatory developments, and institutional allocation shifts.
  • Benchmark IFC’s investor relationship management practices against peer institutions.
  • Oversee high-quality investor-facing communications and marketing materials.
  • Collaborate to articulate a clear and compelling narrative on IFC’s development impact, mobilization agenda, financial performance, and market relevance.
  • Coordinate materials for investor advisory committees, annual meetings, and governance forums.
  • Lead the establishment of strong governance, standards, and management discipline for investor relationship management.
  • Ensure investor engagement activities comply with IFC policies, WBG ethical standards, and legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance teams on investor agreements and arrangements.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the enterprise-wide use of Salesforce as IFC’s investor relationship management platform.
  • Support training, change management, and continuous improvement for the CRM platform.
  • Leverage CRM analytics to inform decision making and report engagement outcomes.
  • Serve as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team of the Capital Mobilization Vice Presidency.
  • Provide strategic, managerial, and performance oversight of the Strategic Investor Relationship Management team.
  • Provide visionary leadership and effective people management to the team.
  • Manage the department’s budget to ensure strategic priorities are resourced while maximizing efficiency.
