About The Position

This role serves as a strategic thought partner and operational extension to the President of Merchandise & E-Commerce and the Chief Financial Officer, WMX. The Director, Strategic Initiatives will focus on enabling leadership efficiency — helping gather inputs, structure ideas, and translate priorities into clear, actionable communication across the organization. This person will play a central role in coordinating strategy from leadership and key collaborators. They will prepare materials and ensure information flows clearly up, down, and across the business. Rather than directly owning business lines, this role is about bringing clarity, alignment, and rigor to how decisions are developed and communicated.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in strategy, operations, finance, consulting, or business operations
  • Experience supporting senior leaders in a strategic support role
  • Exceptional at structuring ambiguous problems and synthesizing complex information
  • Strong written and visual communication skills — you can build clear, compelling decks and narratives
  • Highly organized and diligent; able to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines
  • Strong collaborator with the ability to work across functions and levels of seniority
  • High EQ and sound judgment; comfortable operating behind the scenes to support leadership
  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret and translate financial and operational data
  • Discreet, reliable, and operates with a strong sense of ownership and integrity

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in music, media, consumer products, or e-commerce
  • Familiarity with merchandising, DTC, or physical product businesses
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization with multiple collaborators
  • Background in finance or working closely with finance teams

Responsibilities

  • Gather inputs, research, and perspectives from across merchandising, e-commerce, physical, and finance teams
  • Help structure and refine strategic priorities originating from the President, CFO, and broader leadership team
  • Synthesize complex information into clear narratives, frameworks, and recommendations
  • Support the development of arguments, strategic memos, and executive-level presentations
  • Lead creation of high-quality presentations, briefing documents, and talking points for internal and external audiences
  • Ensure consistency and clarity in how strategies, priorities, and performance updates are communicated
  • Prepare leadership for key meetings by coordinating materials, aligning collaborators, and surfacing key issues
  • Translate detailed operational and financial information into digestible insights for senior audiences
  • Help organize and run key meetings (e.g., staff meetings, business reviews, planning sessions, offsites)
  • Build agendas, compile materials, and ensure follow-ups and action items are clearly documented
  • Coordinate across teams to ensure inputs are collected on time and materials are aligned
  • Maintain access to key initiatives and priorities to support leadership alignment
  • Act as a central point for consolidating information across merchandising, e-commerce, physical, and finance teams
  • Ensure leadership teams are working from consistent data, assumptions, and narratives
  • Facilitate communication between collaborators, helping to clarify priorities and reduce friction
  • Support cascading of key messages and decisions throughout the organization
  • Conduct research and analysis to support decision-making (market trends, competitive insights, performance data)
  • Partner with finance and analytics teams to gather and interpret important data
  • Help frame questions, identify data needs, and package findings into clear outputs for leadership

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $160,000 to $185,000 Annually
