About The Position

Lead a team of Strategic Account Managers to accelerate Marketplace growth by developing high-value seller partnerships, expanding assortment, driving adoption of Walmart Marketplace solutions, and delivering exceptional customer and seller experiences. The Director, Strategic Account Management is responsible for owning the business performance of a portfolio of strategic Marketplace sellers, developing Joint Business Plans (JBPs), and executing short- and long-term growth strategies to drive GMV, assortment expansion, customer adoption, and profitability. This role leads, coaches, and develops a team of Strategic Account Managers and Analysts, establishing performance goals, talent development plans, succession strategies, and a culture of accountability, data-driven decision-making, and seller obsession. Working closely with Merchandising, Business Development, Marketplace leadership, Product & Technology, Seller Operations, Marketing, Analytics, and Supply Chain teams, the Director develops category growth plans, identifies assortment gaps and strategic brand opportunities, aligns Marketplace and 1P strategies, and leads cross-functional initiatives that improve seller performance and customer outcomes. The role builds executive-level relationships with strategic sellers and marketplace partners, serves as the primary escalation point for complex business issues and opportunities, and influences seller investments across assortment, pricing, fulfillment, and advertising. In addition, the Director drives adoption of Marketplace growth programs and solutions, including Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS), Walmart Connect (WMC), sponsored products, promotions, deals, events, and new Marketplace tools and capabilities, ensuring sellers maximize available growth levers. The position is accountable for establishing KPIs and reporting frameworks, analyzing business performance trends, developing action plans, prioritizing investments based on data and insights, and presenting business reviews and recommendations to senior leadership. Success is measured through GMV growth, strategic seller retention, assortment and active item expansion, in-demand item penetration, WFS and Walmart Connect adoption, deal and event participation, seller satisfaction, category share growth, operational health metrics, and team engagement and talent development.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in: eCommerce; Marketplace; Account Management; Merchandising; Category Management; Business Development; Strategic Partnerships
  • Leadership Experience leading large account management or commercial teams
