Nonprofit Finance Fund® (NFF®) is a nonprofit lender, consultant, and advocate. Since 1980, we’ve helped organizations access the money and resources they need to realize their communities’ aspirations. Alongside others, we’re working to build community wealth and well-being and put affordable housing, essential services, quality jobs, and excellent education within reach of more people. The Director, Specialized Accounting plays a critical role in supporting NFF’s financial integrity, compliance, and operational effectiveness. This role leads key accounting work streams with a primary focus on grant accounting and compliance, New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) accounting support, and special projects as they arise. As a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), NFF integrates mission and capital across its work. This role partners closely with program, lending, and finance colleagues to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong stewardship of restricted funds, and compliance with federal and funder requirements. This Director role is well-suited for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. NFF has offices in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Oakland, and Los Angeles. This is a US-based remote role, with a strong preference for candidates within commutable distance to one of NFF’s offices. NFF has core business hours where we expect all staff to be available from 9 am to 5 pm local time, and occasional travel (20%) is required.
