About The Position

Veza is seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Platform Engineering to lead its core platform organization. This role is responsible for the Access Graph, the integrations ecosystem, and the data pipeline infrastructure, which together process billions of permissions across complex enterprise environments. It is a senior leadership position focused on scale, security, and AI-native architecture, requiring the definition of technical vision and driving execution across multiple teams. The role involves close collaboration with product, security engineering, SRE, and the ServiceNow platform organization, especially as Veza integrates into ServiceNow following its acquisition.

Requirements

12+ years of experience in backend or platform software engineering.
6+ years in senior engineering leadership roles spanning startup and enterprise SaaS environments.
Experience leading through hypergrowth or major platform transition.
Proven track record scaling enterprise SaaS data platforms and distributed systems.
Designing and delivering infrastructure that operates reliably at billions of data relationships across complex, multi-cloud enterprise environments.
Deep expertise in distributed systems architecture, cloud-native design patterns, and API design.
Strong hands-on experience across AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerization technologies including Kubernetes.
Experience with graph technologies, large-scale relationship modeling, or graph database platforms.
Understanding of tradeoffs in building query engines and data models for real-time identity and access intelligence.
Strong experience with streaming and data pipeline technologies such as Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
Ability to design and evolve data infrastructure connecting enterprise systems into a coherent, low-latency platform.
Understanding of how identity and access relationships are structured across complex enterprise environments.
Demonstrated ability to lead, scale, and develop multiple engineering teams and managers.
Proven track record hiring, developing, and retaining engineering leaders.
Strong organizational and program management skills.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the technical vision and strategy for Veza's platform organization, including the Access Graph, integrations ecosystem, and data pipeline infrastructure, ensuring alignment with company goals and the ServiceNow integration roadmap.
Own architecture decisions for distributed systems, high-performance graph services, and large-scale data platforms, setting engineering standards and design patterns.
Partner with Tech Leads and Principal Engineers on high-impact architectural decisions to ensure enterprise-grade scalability, reliability, security, and observability.
Identify and champion emerging technologies, including AI/ML and graph-native capabilities, to advance platform performance and intelligence.
Establish and drive engineering excellence, including coding standards, design review processes, operational practices, and compliance posture.
Partner with Product, Security Engineering, and GTM to translate business objectives and customer needs into platform capabilities.
Drive execution across complex, multi-team roadmaps, managing dependencies and resolving cross-team blockers.
Represent platform architecture in cross-organizational discussions with ServiceNow platform teams.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineering managers, tech leads, and senior engineers.
Own the full talent lifecycle for the platform organization, including hiring, onboarding, retention, performance, and succession.
Create an environment where strong engineers thrive with high autonomy, clear technical direction, meaningful problems, and a culture of craft and accountability.
