About The Position

The Director/Senior Director, Medical Affairs Analytics & Systems will lead the systems, data, and analytics capabilities that enable Medical Affairs to operate efficiently and support timely, data-informed decision-making. Serving as the primary Medical Affairs partner to IT and Commercial Operations, this individual will translate Medical Affairs needs into clear business requirements, integrated workflows, and scalable technology solutions. They will connect information across Field Medical, Medical Information, Scientific Communications, publications, congresses, advisory boards, and other activities—making it easier to identify patterns, access relevant information, and apply insights to strategic decisions. This role will own the Medical Affairs systems and analytics roadmap, including platform integration, reporting automation, data governance, adoption, and responsible AI enablement. Success will require technical fluency to work credibly with IT and vendors, combined with a strong understanding of Medical Affairs objectives, workflows, and compliance requirements. This position will report to the Executive Director, Scientific Communications & Information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific, business, technology, or healthcare discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of relevant biotech/pharma experience, including at least five years focused on Medical Affairs systems, analytics, operations, or digital capabilities
  • Experience operating in a small, clinical-stage or pre-commercial rare-disease biotechnology company, with the ability to lead strategically while directly driving execution.
  • Strong understanding of Medical Affairs objectives, workflows, data, and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated experience translating Medical Affairs needs into integrated systems and analytics solutions and leading implementation through adoption and optimization
  • Technical fluency across data integration, analytics, automation, and AI, with the ability to direct vendors and influence IT, Commercial Operations, and senior stakeholders without direct authority

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute the roadmap for an integrated, best-in-class Medical Affairs ecosystem.
  • Translate Medical Affairs needs into clear requirements, streamlined workflows, and implementation priorities.
  • Represent Medical Affairs in enterprise systems and data discussions, partnering with IT and Commercial Operations to improve connectivity while reducing fragmentation, duplication, and unnecessary complexity.
  • Lead the implementation, integration, governance, and optimization of selected Medical Affairs platforms and manage associated vendors.
  • Maintain accountability for roadmap delivery, including priorities, budgets, timelines, dependencies, risks, vendor performance, and leadership communication.
  • Drive adoption, training, and continuous improvement, ensuring solutions remain practical, scalable, and aligned with Medical Affairs, compliance, and enterprise requirements.
  • Lead the development of Medical Affairs dashboards and reporting capabilities through internal and external partners.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs leadership to establish meaningful KPIs and reporting frameworks.
  • Connect data across Medical Affairs activities and establish appropriate standards for data quality, consistency, and access.
  • Advance scalable analytics capabilities that reduce manual effort, identify trends over time, and support more timely, informed decision-making.
  • Translate business questions into analytical requirements and ensure outputs are clear, relevant, and decision-ready.
  • Lead the implementation of AI-enabled capabilities that support Medical Affairs priorities, including medical intelligence, reporting, knowledge retrieval, content management, and field enablement.
  • Identify opportunities for AI and automation to simplify workflows, improve access to information, and reduce administrative burden.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing systems and ways of working, avoiding additional disconnected tools and processes.
  • Establish appropriate governance, human oversight, success measures, and adoption plans.
  • Partner with IT, Legal, Privacy, Regulatory, Compliance, and vendors to implement AI responsibly and effectively.
