About The Position

Fitch Ratings is seeking a Director or Senior Director to join the Credit Commentary & Research (CCR) team. This global, cross-sector team is responsible for Fitch Ratings’ cross-sector and Macro-Credit research, including long-form reports on key credit themes like the Global Risk Outlook and Global Credit Outlook, regional Credit Brief reports, and other ad hoc thematic research. The team also manages the Fitch Wire product, which provides high-volume, short-form research focused on timely analysis of topical issues for investors, in partnership with ratings analysts. The CCR team is part of Fitch Ratings’ Risk department and reports to the Chief Credit & Risk Officer, with analysts located in New York, Toronto, London, and Hong Kong. The role involves driving macro-credit/cross-sector research and Fitch Wire commentary, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, and taking responsibility for product innovation and quality control. The position requires identifying key credit themes/risks, executing research projects independently, and building strong relationships with stakeholders. It also involves coordinating with other CCR team members to develop research themes, identifying research gaps, and driving new research product innovations. The role includes authoring a significant number of Fitch Wires and longer research reports in collaboration with ratings analysts.

Requirements

  • Deep analytical experience with a ratings agency, research firm, sell-side or buy-side investment firm.
  • Versatile research analyst with top-down, cross-sector publication.
  • A track record of driving research outcomes, including idea generation and product innovation within the financial industry.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively in a consensus culture.
  • Ability to think laterally and work as a cross-sector/cross-geography analyst.
  • Analytical economics experience.

  • A deep and diverse track record of publishing financial/credit research that demonstrates a high degree of sectoral versatility and macro knowledge.
  • Passion for financial research (including sell-side, buy-side, ratings agency, independent research firm) with a strong interest in research innovation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to participate in external outreach via webinars, podcasts or other media.
  • Samples of past research/analysis with examples of driving a new research product from idea to execution.

Responsibilities

  • Drive macro-credit/cross-sector research and Fitch Wire commentary, ensuring delivery against objectives and alignment with strategic priorities as set by the Head of CCR.
  • Take responsibility for product innovation and quality control.
  • Identify key credit themes/risks, and execute research projects independently and through the direction of the Head of CCR.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with other members of the CCR team to help develop and drive research themes and ideas within the wider company.
  • Identify research gaps in our output, especially for macro-credit themes that require coordination across groups.
  • Drive new research product innovations based on feedback from key stakeholders.
  • Author 90 Fitch Wires and 9 longer research reports on major credit themes, working in collaboration with ratings analysts.
