About The Position

The Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting reports to the Corporate Controller and plays a critical leadership role in managing SEC compliance, technical accounting matters, and external financial reporting. This role is based in our Newton, MA office (the team generally work 3 days in office, and remotely Mondays and Fridays).

Requirements

  • CPA, Accounting degree
  • 9+ years experience in assurance / audit practice at Big 4 public accounting firm
  • Deep expertise in US GAAP and SEC reporting regulations
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and technical accounting principles
  • Experience managing SEC filings and external reporting processes
  • Proven ability to research and interpret complex accounting guidance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience leading and developing accounting teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee SEC reporting processes, including the preparation and filing of periodic reports (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) and other regulatory filings
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and advise on complex accounting standards and GAAP compliance, including drafting of technical accounting memos
  • Manage and review complex agreements, perform independent accounting research, and determine applicable US GAAP standards
  • Oversee financial reporting regulations and ensure compliance with SEC requirements
  • Manage SEC reporting calendar including cross-functional collaboration to ensure all required supporting disclosure documents are available on time and with accuracy
  • Act as primary point person for external auditors relative to their quarterly reviews and audit work
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Stay current on evolving accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with SOX
