About The Position

The Finance Director, ScotiaMcLeod is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership, and oversight of finance matters for the ScotiaMcLeod business line within Global Wealth Management. The role supports business strategies, plans, and initiatives by leading integrated management reporting, profit planning, forecasting, financial analytics, and business decision support for ScotiaMcLeod. Acting as a key finance partner to senior business leaders, the Director provides insight, counsel, and recommendations on financial performance, strategic initiatives, business cases, management reporting, and expense management.

Requirements

• A university degree and a professional accounting designation, such as CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA.
• Solid experience in financial management, financial reporting, forecasting, planning, control, and analysis.
• Proven ability to work effectively with senior executives and business leadership, including providing advice, insight, and influence on complex financial matters.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate teams, develop talent, and build a high-performance culture.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across business lines, finance teams, and other internal stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Experience developing financial models, business cases, sensitivity analysis, stress testing, dashboards, scorecards, and management reporting.
• High degree of flexibility, sound professional judgment, and creativity in navigating a complex and rapidly changing business environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet rigid reporting deadlines, and work well with minimal supervision.
• Strong customer service orientation and a proactive approach to resolving complex business issues.
• Ability to influence managers and stakeholders at different levels across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial reporting for ScotiaMcLeod, including certifying the accuracy and integrity of financial results, management information reporting, and monthly and quarterly P&L analysis.
• Lead management reporting, profitability analysis, annual planning, operating and capital budgeting, forecasting, and expense management processes.
• Coordinate three-year financial projections, business and strategic planning, revenue and expense assumptions, and multi-year forecasts for the business.
• Lead sensitivity analysis, stress-testing scenarios, performance dashboards, scorecards, variance analysis, and value-added financial commentary.
• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of integrated management information, profitability reporting, and financial analytics infrastructure.
• Provide finance counsel and decision support to senior ScotiaMcLeod, Global Wealth Management, and business line leaders on finance-related matters.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regional leaders, branch managers, business partners, and finance colleagues across the Bank.
• Drive business and financial initiatives for ScotiaMcLeod, ensuring alignment with Global Wealth Management and broader Bank priorities.
• Administer sales incentive and performance-related compensation programs, including financial modelling, measurement processes, and program integrity.
• Develop financial analysis and models to support business cases, strategic initiatives, and senior management decision-making.
• Influence and provide recommendations to resolve financial issues, improve business performance, and support the achievement of short- and long-term financial goals.
• Provide leadership to the Finance team by setting goals, developing talent, encouraging collaboration, sharing knowledge, and fostering open communication and continuous improvement.
