Director School Psychology (PsyS) program

SPALDING UNIVERSITYLouisville, KY

About The Position

The School of Professional Psychology (SOPP) at Spalding University is hiring a Director for our new Psychology Specialist (PsyS) program in School Psychology. The 3-year program (two-year MA plus an internship year) will be housed in the same School as our nationally renowned PsyD program, which has been fully APA accredited since 1989. Candidates for the position must hold a doctoral degree in School psychology, preferably with or immediate eligibility for licensure in KY as a psychologist. We are seeking candidates who possess the knowledge and skills to have oversight of all aspects of the program, including the curriculum, regulatory and accreditation compliance, and recruitment and retention of students. Additionally, as a tenure-track member of the faculty, the Director will be expected to achieve a strong balance across the three domains of teaching, scholarship, and service. First, they will be strong teachers who utilize best practices in teaching and enjoy student mentoring and supervising. Second, they will be thoughtful scholars with either a record of presenting and/or publishing in their chosen research interest areas or demonstrated promise to do so. Third, they will possess strong interpersonal skills and a cooperative spirit to work collegially with others on university and departmental service committees. The position offers scheduling flexibility (other than class and meeting times) and faculty members are encouraged to use up to eight hours per week in research, consultation, direct service (e.g. private practice) and/or supervision. Opportunities are available for licensed psychologists to engage in direct service as part of our Faculty Practice Plan, where faculty are able to see their own private practice clients in the Center for Behavioral Health (https://behavioralhealth.spalding.edu/). Additional contract supervision for doctoral students on practicum may also be available.
