The heart of this position is to identify and integrate proper, safe work procedures, cultivate proper attitudes in a production rich atmosphere without jeopardizing team members or minimizing health and safety at the various job sites. The Safety & Compliance Director will assure all required health and safety activities for sites are accomplished as required by regulatory and/or ConGlobal policy requirements. Review, evaluate, audit, and provide all required health and safety training. Will assist in safety talks with supervisors and team members, as required. The Safety & Compliance Director will conduct equipment inspections, safety system audits, risk-based evaluations, testing, training and reporting of performance measurements. This position plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), and Department of Transportation / Federal Motor Carrier Administration (DOT/FMCSA). This position will work to ensure site operations follow and adhere to standardized health and safety procedures, policies and rules by all assigned team members, visitors, customers and contractors entering ConGlobal properties. This position will perform regular audits to identify under-developed work procedures, unsafe work behavior and develop remedial actions in coordination with the Terminal Manager and the VP of EHS. This position must not only identify problems in safety compliance, but be able to accurately report the same and be an integral part of the solution. Ideally, the candidate will be Associate Safety Professional certified.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or other applicable disciplines
  • 4-6 years progressive experience in Health & Safety or Environmental fields, preferably within management structure
  • Experience leading training efforts, ability to develop training materials
  • Strong project management skills, detail orientation, flexibility, ability to prioritize multiple projects, with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural documents
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public
  • Safety Professional certification (ASP or CSP) and OSHA Certified Trainer

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of Safety, Health, Environmental, and Regulatory Compliance programs across Rail, Auto, and Depot operations
  • Drive a ZERO HARM culture through visible leadership, frontline engagement, and accountability at all levels of the organization
  • Partner with executive leadership and operations to align safety initiatives with business objectives, ensuring safe and efficient production across all facilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide safety policies, procedures, and standards to ensure regulatory compliance and operational consistency
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, FRA, DOT, EPA), including audit readiness, regulatory reporting, and agency interface
  • Direct incident, injury, illness, and near-miss investigations with a focus on Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention, ensuring effective root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions
  • Utilize data analytics, leading and lagging indicators, and operational insights to identify exposure trends and drive proactive risk mitigation strategies
  • Provide executive-level reporting on safety performance, including KPIs, trends, and risk exposures, to inform leadership decision-making
  • Lead and develop Safety, Environmental, and Training teams, ensuring alignment, capability development, and consistent execution across all locations
  • Drive standardization of safety programs, onboarding, and compliance training across the network through partnership with Learning & Development
  • Establish and maintain audit, observation, and assurance processes to validate compliance and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, HR, Risk Management, and external partners to ensure integrated and effective safety solutions
  • Oversee OSHA recordkeeping, workers’ compensation coordination, and internal/external reporting requirements
  • Represent the organization in interactions with regulatory agencies, customers, and external stakeholders regarding safety and compliance matters
  • Lead emergency preparedness, response planning, and crisis management efforts across all facilities
