Requirements

  • Seven to ten years of progressive experience in hands-on management of insurance risk management programs.
  • Involvement with multiple types of claims, including large catastrophic property claims and resolution as an employee of the insured, or as a claims adjuster, broker claims advocate, forensic accountant and/or consultant.
  • Strong understanding of standard accounting principles and experience with budgeting, reforecasting, and actuarial analyses.
  • Knowledge regarding a wide variety of property, casualty, financial and professional liability insurance coverages, including the assessment, revision and renewal of such coverages.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with others at all levels within the organization.
  • Commitment to seek the input of others across departments for collaborative decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead insurance renewals and data gathering process, review data with VP prior to submittal, analyze options and determine the full statement of values for property renewals.
  • Support CAT property claims recoveries, including analysis and reporting, ensuring sufficient detail is provided to the claims adjuster to obtain carrier payments, tracking total estimated loss amounts and deductibles, submitting and tracking requests for payment and receipt of payments, and following up to obtain answers to questions from adjuster.
  • Provide input for the emergency response plans and hurricane preparedness process.
  • Support acquisition due diligence process and provide insurance estimates for acquisitions, developments, expansions, and improvements.
  • Participate in the insurance budgeting and quarterly reforecasting process, monthly and quarterly reconciliations with accounting and financial planning and analysis, and mid-year and year-end actuarial analyses.
  • Support the VP and provide guidance regarding accounting compliance, incoming and outgoing certificates of insurance, surety bonds, insurance renewals, surveys, exposures, applications and general questions.
  • Assist broker and VP regarding lender insurance requirements.
  • Review insurance and indemnification requirements and any limitations of liability in contracts with vendors and others.
