About The Position

The Tax Resource Management (RM) Leader is a member of the Tax operations team and the Canadian RM executive team, supporting the RM strategy to effectively deploy client-serving professionals contributing to their development, their inclusive deployment and the effective/comprehensive project staffing of Tax engagements within Canada. This position will direct and mange the Tax RM team and requires building strong trust relationships with multiple stakeholders and leaders to successfully execute all aspects of this role. Reports to Canadian RM Leader.

Requirements

  • 10 years of Resource Management or related experience in a professional services firm and/or consulting firm (experience in a Tax practice preferred)
  • Proven leadership capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the deployment of all Tax resources, aligning resources with strategic plans, analyzing operational results and promoting the experiences and development of staff while adhering to all risk management guidelines
  • Leads the annual planning process for RM contributions to financial plan and for annual staff planning. Provides pertinent resource planning details and analyses same to assist in the development of Annual Fiscal Plan and to support business decisions. Ensures that annual staff planning is done timely and accurately, leading the team and the practice through this process
  • Provides timely and accurate RM data to support in the on-going forecast/outlook process by analyzing comparisons between forecast/scheduling tools/actual; monitors ability to achieve plan hours and utilization and assists in managing headcount based on client needs and available hours.
  • Review and be accountable for timely resolution of open staffing needs
  • Understands, monitors and is accountable for execution of all RM-related Quality Controls in collaboration with Leadership. RM Quality Liaison and local RM’s
  • Act as a point of escalation for RM issues requiring senior leadership involvement
  • Actively understand and support Resource Management enablers including current and future staffing tools; practioner profiles and reporting tools
  • Lead the implementation of EY’s global next-gen staffing software in Canada Tax, including developing processes fit for Tax Canada, leading a team responsible for change management activities across the practice, training and all launch-to-BAU activities
  • Liaise with Operations, Finance and Talent functions to reconcile resourcing needs with individual engagement budgets and overall workforce/headcount planning initiatives. Manage the performance management process cycles for Tax RM team
  • Develop and lead the Tax RM team, providing clear and strong leadership to RM team members enabling coaching, counseling, and promoting continuous development
  • Network with peers across Global Tax RM to share resources and best practices
  • Develops, implements and monitors policies and procedures as it relates to Tax Resource management activities and identify ways to improve RM processes
