About The Position

The Director of Residential Operations partners with the VP for Residential Treatment, Residential Directors and Education/Health Care Services leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, training expectations and consistent implementation of Hillside processes that ensure high quality service delivery, emergency preparedness and safety. This role involves communicating, supporting, and linking Hillside's mission, vision, values, goals, and strategies to everyday work, and establishing clear, meaningful, challenging, and attainable objectives and expectations aligned with the organization's. The Director also aligns the right work with the right people, delegates tasks according to strengths and interests, ensures staff have the necessary skills and resources, and provides coaching, training, and opportunities for growth. They treat staff fairly and consistently, share accountability, and involve staff in setting performance goals. Additionally, the Director ensures adherence to Hillside policies, procedures, and all applicable governmental laws, regulations, and guidelines, and possesses the authority to implement decisions within their area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive scope and responsibilities within a residential group care setting required
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience required
  • CPR certification required or obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Unrestricted, valid NYS driver’s license for minimum of 1 year with a clean driving record and minimum insurance coverage that meets agency standards.
  • Demonstrates effective use of motivational leadership techniques and strategies
  • Facilitates and promotes collaborative decision-making process
  • Demonstrates knowledge of CARE principles, TCI techniques and EBP practices

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, training expectations, and consistent implementation of Hillside processes for high-quality service delivery, emergency preparedness, and safety.
  • Consult and coach teams to ensure consistent implementation and ongoing fidelity to TCI Principles and the CARE model.
  • Participate in the Cornell Community of Practice.
  • Ensure all residential staff are CARE and TCI-trained in collaboration with the Director of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) and HR Department.
  • Support Restraint and AWOL reduction initiatives.
  • Participate as an active member of the Peaceful Communities Leadership Team.
  • Ensure every campus is implementing the Six Core Strategies.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of incident management and reporting processes, including data collection, analysis, and strategic planning.
  • Support all campuses in using data to inform continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to residential staff to build skill and bench strength.
  • Participate in the professional development of residential staff by ensuring completion of and providing necessary training to meet compliance guidelines.
  • Participate in agency and campus staff meetings when indicated.
  • Volunteer and serve on agency and community committees as needed.
  • Communicate, support, and link Hillside mission, vision, values, goals, and strategies to everyday work.
