The Director Recreational and Wellness will oversee all full-time administrators and staff of the department, as well as part-time student employees, coaches, and instructors for programs including fitness, outdoor, aquatics, intramurals, and club sports, and all recreation facilities. This role involves developing and managing the Department and Fitness and Aquatic Center (FAC) budgets, setting operational standards, evaluating staffing needs, hiring and evaluating staff, and ensuring an efficient, safe, and secure environment for facility users. The Director will also analyze customer feedback, develop and implement policies for the FAC, coordinate maintenance with Facilities, establish operating hours, and ensure adequate staffing. Participation in professional development and associations is expected to stay current with industry trends. The role includes establishing and managing operational and capital budgets, identifying needs, forecasting shortfalls, and ensuring revenue expectations are met. Risk management policies and sustainability efforts will be supported and implemented. The Director will develop department goals aligned with the mission of the Division of Student Development, initiate policy changes, analyze program effectiveness, and evaluate the impact on student recruitment and retention.
