As Director, Real Estate Systems, reporting directly to the Vice President, Real Estate Systems, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping and advancing the technology platforms that support our national real estate portfolio. This role helps ensure both our enterprise and building systems are aligned to business strategy, scalable, secure, and continuously evolving. You will play a leadership role, along with the Director, Enterprise Systems, and Director, Building Systems in the evolution of both Enterprise Systems (with a primary focus on Yardi) and Building Systems (BMS, IoT, and smart technologies)—driving integration, modernization, and business value. This is a highly visible role requiring strong leadership, operational depth, and the ability to influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups. This position is ideal for a leader who combines strategic thinking with executional excellence, and who brings a passion for leveraging technology to improve operational performance, enhance asset value, and enable future innovation. This position provides a unique opportunity to influence both enterprise and building systems ecosystems while continuing to modernize real estate technology platforms through the evolution of data, automation and AI capabilities.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience with enterprise systems, preferably within a real estate or property management environment (Yardi preferred)
  • Strong Yardi expertise, with deep functional and/or technical knowledge
  • Proven hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving capability, with the ability to lead issue resolution directly
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a strong ownership, accountability mindset, and financial acumen
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage both business and technical audiences
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-demand environments with competing priorities
  • Solid operational discipline with a focus on system optimization and continuous improvement

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to building systems (BMS, IoT, smart building technologies) is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Director, Enterprise Systems to support, optimize, and champion continuous improvement of the Yardi platform and related enterprise applications
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex issues, troubleshooting challenges directly and driving resolution
  • Partner with all business units to enhance system usage, reporting, and data integrity
  • Support ongoing upgrades (e.g., Voyager 8) and identify opportunities to expand platform capabilities
  • Drive adoption of best practices across all enterprise applications
  • Work with the Director, Building Systems to provide support, optimization and champion continuous improvement of building systems (BMS, IoT, smart building technologies)
  • Support troubleshooting and issue resolution in partnership with the Building Systems Director and vendors
  • Ensure alignment between building technologies and enterprise/data platforms where applicable
  • Contribute to building systems roadmap and ongoing modernization initiatives
  • Drive operational excellence across enterprise and building systems, improving reliability, performance, and scalability
  • Establish and evolve standards, processes, and governance to ensure consistency and efficiency
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement sustainable, long-term improvements
  • Maintain strong command of system operations, engaging directly in complex or high-impact issues when required
  • Identify and deliver opportunities for process optimization, automation, and efficiency gains
  • Build strong vendor partnerships, ensuring performance, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Support security and risk practices across both enterprise and building systems
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure systems meet security and compliance expectations
  • Contribute to risk and compliance assessments, audits, and mitigation planning
  • Work closely with all business units and the Operational Performance Team to align priorities
  • Translate technical issues into business impacts and actionable insights
  • Influence stakeholders and drive alignment across diverse groups
  • Promote a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement
